I wasn't going to bring politics in, but with the Labor minister putting in the final piece of soil, the Liberals must hate they miss out on all the photo snapping opportunities the next year will bring.

I'd like to see Barnett toss the coin for the first game or the first Derby.

So some security questions from that picutre. Looks hard to see, but they seem very close to the stadium. Would have thought modern stadiums would have entry a fair distance from the actual stadium. I went to Levis Stadium (49ers new stadium) and entry gates were a good hundred meters at least from the stadium. They also had airport type security screening, items in box - walk through a metal detector. Also all NFL games you are not allowed bags. Can see in the picture no one has a backpack. A clear see through plastic bag is the only thing you can bring in. Helped so much with entry people not carrying in backpacks full of half their belongings for security to check. Wondering if they are putting anything like that in place here, or at least have the facilities available to add it on when needed. Can see in photo I took from after going through security how far away entry was from the stadium.

Hopefully since it's brand new the security set-up has been done properly. Being Australia though, I doubt it. After you come home from sporting events in the States it makes you feel vulnerable at Aus sporting events. Our security is so lax.

I just hope that there are enough general admin seats for all the people who aren't Eagles or Dockers members and that on any day the footy is on are able to a a whim decide to go to the football and be able to get a seat. A bit like in Melbourne where you can go to the G or Etihad and get in general admin for $25.

If it doesn't cater for the average fan who isn't a member its all a waste of time and is just the same as Subi where its often difficult to get a seat.

I think after the novelty of the new stadium has worn off I can see plenty of seats available for most games.

Well I mean sort of.

I once walked in to Prudentia centre in Jersey in front of a guy who was having a conversation about whether he should check his weapon in the cloak room or not. So it depends who exactly you're worried about.

I remember sitting near the MCG scoreboard for the cricket and it looked huge, especially considering I almost always sit at the bottom or far from the scoreboard. It's very hard to believe that Perth Stadium will have a screen twice as big, I can barely imagine that, how can they even make a screen that big?

Guns are illegal to carry in Jersey though, and he wouldn't have gotten through the scanners at the gate, surely. If he got caught he not only wouldn't have been let in, he would've been taken away. Every event I've gone to in Jersey and Philly have had airport like security where you've had to empty your pockets, shoes and bags into trays and walked through detectors. How long ago was this though?

Its gunna be ross glendenning, but he will override the capt who wins the toss and say "its my coin toss so im gunna tell you which way your kicking"

It was actually really weird going to the MCG for the first time after growing up at subi, the playing surface seemed so small

For anyone who hasn't been to the MCG to appreciate this yet, go to Lathlain and see the main oval juxtaposed along side the new training groung with MCG dimensions. End to end looks ridiculously short.

**** the rugby. Hope the ODI cricket match is the first sport played now. Otherwise ill just wait til round 1 of the AFL. Wouldn't waste my time watching 2 NRL teams i have no idea about or no interest for.

The AFL could always open it with a JLT series match or AFLW match lol

I for one don't have a problem with anybody playing at the stadium as long as they PAY.
"It is tipped to generate $2.25 million for the WA economy." or about $80,000 in tax revenue.
