Former AFL Player’s Association from 2003-07, Peter Bell fears the league will become a laughing stock if Essendon champion Jobe Watson is not hit with heavy sanctions for his confession to taking banned substances through injections last season.

Pressure is mounting on Vlad & his faceless henchmen to do something ..........

How much credibility & influence Peter Bell has is yet to be determined but he certainly would have a lot of support in his comments.

Just released in last hour or so on afl site>>> ESSENDON could yet be stripped of premiership points this season as an outcome of the ongoing ASADA supplements investigation.
AFL general manager of football operations Mark Evans said on Monday that all options were open to the AFL if it sanctions were applied against the Bombers.
"It is certainly within the scope of the Commission to do that, but it will be a Commission decision once it has been tabled," Evans told AFL.com.au's Access All Areas when asked whether the Bombers could lose premiership points.
Essendon has won 10 of 13 matches this year and is third on the ladder.
Evans stressed that the investigation was continuing and that there would be no comment on individual developments, such as Bomber skipper Jobe Watson's remarks last week, so as not to "prejudice" the investigation.
Once completed, the findings will be handed to the AFL Commission.
"There is a range of possibilities if the commission decided there was a breach that needed to be acted on," he said.
"That could include a whole range of things from fines, draft picks ... it could be dealing with individuals and anything else," he said.

"The silence from the AFL is deafening. You are running our competition that we all are stakeholders in, whatever your agenda is and I understand due process. Due process is out the window right now because of Jobe Watson’s admission. It is embarrassing the AFL. I need to hear from the AFL... It is clear cut absolutely clear cut that there should be a hearing right now."

Some of the strongest words yet.

but but but they said there would no loss of points according to the Essendon supporters.

Let's just say an associate of mine that works at a talk back radio show has inside info that Jobes brownlow is, " GONE ", draft picks for at least next year, " GONE ", Essonden will certainly lose premiership points this season, and there most certainly will be player suspensions, and the final word is that if they are sanctioned with the above and nothing else, they will be very fortunate. Remember this post for future reference.

But what can the AFL say that hasn't already been said?

"This is an ongoing investigation... blah blah... will be completed and findings released early August..."

“There may well be a defence that we are not aware of,” Bell said on Perth radio 6PR.

“But if he is cleared and there is not a legitimate defence that will reduce, in the eyes of international sport, the AFL to a laughing stock.”

Thanks for that, Captain Obvious.

its great that you call him captain obvious because it seems that the obvious cannot be seen by Essendon supporters

Interesting comment, as understanding and appreciating the obvious haven't been real strengths of Essendon supporters on here. Missing Doctors letter, missing ASADA letter, desire to prove whether AOD is effective or not, irrespective of its legality etc etc.

There have been many interesting coments from people just as qualified as Bell (if not more) to comment on the issue that haven't received the same press or even near it. Why? Because they didn't ask for heads to roll yesterday. Many of them aren't exactly what BF would describe as 'Essendon Spin Doctors' either, but it hasn't stopped the mob from largely ignoring them.

Who's going to quote me next? Sunshine Pie?

Who wants to hear from people who are calling for Essendon to be let off? Surely you can appreciate it is much much better theatre to keep turning up the heat on Jimmy and the Injectors? ;)
