AFL great Peter Moore believes Josh Fraser has been "crucified" by Collingwood and argues Fraser is not a ruckman, but a key forward

Moore wants Fraser to be played as a permanent forward, preferably deep and in rotation with Chris Dawes, and with Travis Cloke higher up the ground

Moore argued Fraser was not a ruckman and had been "murdered and crucified" in that position

I really believe when he started he was as capable as (St Kilda captain Nick) Riewoldt at centre half-forward.

When Moore speaks, people need to listen.

This could have been applicable...

...in 2003.

True dat.

Maybe Collingwood did make the mistake of persisting with him as a ruckman, but in 2010 with his injury problems and general lack of interest in playing football, Dawes deserves to play as much football as possible in front of The Amazing Lettuceman.

Hasn't Fraser been playing forward quite a bit this year? Hasn't stopped him from being insipid. Unfortunately he's past it. Moore might be right, Fraser might have been crucified from holding the Ruck all these years but there's not much that can be done about it now is there? Giving him sympathy games because of it is pointless, unfortunately for Josh this is it, not the way he deserved to go out, but that's life.

... me too. Me too.

psst I'd rather have Dawes.

Me three, Me three.:p

Seriously, to say that Fraser should play instead of Dawes is just STUPID.

Dawes has the potential to be an elite forward in the AFL, while Fraser is 29, has "buggered" (to put it technically) knees and has rarely performed as a forward, even when played their for long periods.

I'm sick of ex players and commentators saying we have run Fraser into the ground, he was a ruckman at under aged level, he was drafted as a ruck, and for the most part we didn't need Josh to play forward, so he never really developed his forward skills.

And that last part is the key here, JOSH FRASER HAS NOT PLAYED ENOUGH UP FORWARD, he has never developed his forward abilities, and quite simply, IT'S TOO ****ING LATE AND WE HAVE BETTER OPTIONS.

Heck, Leigh Brown has looked more competitive then Fraser has up forward this year, let alone Dawes, Cloke, Anthony etc etc etc.

Back into your whole Peter, you ****ing traitor.

Now I'll ask the question;

DOES ANYONE HERE BELIEVE WE CAN WIN THE 2010 FLAG WITH JOSH FRASER IN OUR TEAM?

Don't Put Down Peter Moore - He has a Gun Son who will where the Black and White.

Fraser could be in a Great Forward of he started his Career there and not in the Ryck

Could anyone ever imagine Fraser ploughing 100 miles an hour into oncoming traffic with the flight of the ball or taking grabs from 3 deep on the leagues best defenders? No matter what position he was trained to play, a leopard doesn't change it's spots. He has been a solid player but comparisons with Riewoldt, please spare me!

Gun son or not, you shouldn't bag him out because he was a ****en gun if the game.

On the article if Fraser was 21 I'd say the article is spot on and what we should do. Sadly Fraser isn't 21.

On Dawes he will never be elite, handy too good never elite

I thought he was a forward a couple of years ago but not anymore thats daweses posistion now and Fraisers body is absouloutly shot and **** you Peter Moore u bloody traitor!

Any "old" Collingwood supporter will tell you what they think of Peter Moore.

He left a side that had just played in 3 grand finals, where he had won a Brownlow and Copelands, FOR MONEY, to go to the scum that is Melbourne.

I won't repsect him, because he has no right to be respected.

The fact is matty, we have run Josh Fraser into the ground over the last decade. In that period, we failed to get him adequate support, we threw him to the wolves against monsters as a pup and we did not manage his body accordingly in order to allow him to develop at his fullest without being battered and bruised. No young propsect (particularly rucks) nowadays ever carry ruck divisions solo week in, week out and have to do so for 10 years. Sure, Mick and co have come along way in terms of developing and managing youngsters (evident with his "rotation policy") but we failed Josh Fraser and that is a given.

Secondly, Peter Moore is a Collingwood great. Sure, he left the club but what he achieved and the service he gave to our club was incredible. His status and standing at Collingwood will forever be that of a legend. He deserves some respect, he is one of ours after all.

Lastly, we are going to have to try and win a premiership in 2010 with Josh because simply put, Wood is nowhere near it and Leroy ain't going to cut it come finals time. With the correct management (as we are doing this season), Josh will be ready to go come finals time and its important to note that he has not played in the last few prelims we have made and in his absence, his replacements have not stood up or failed miserably i.e. Richards, Wood/Leroy.

Another thing to note, is Josh has regularly played well in big games during finals. I have no doubts about Josh being in our best 22 to partner Jolly in the ruck division.

Completely and 100% irrelevant now. What's done is done.

There is no case to be made that Fraser is anywhere more near it than Wood is.

People say Wood gets some leniency because he's young, but some people give Fraser leniency because years ago he was competent.

If you're dismissing Wood because of his form, you have to dismiss Fraser. Neither deserve a best 22 place, and until either of them start dominating VFL consistently, neither should be anywhere near the side.

Both Wood and Brown are better 2nd ruck options than Fraser on current form. At this point I'd prefer going into games with only Jolly as the recognised ruckman than have the side carrying Fraser. He is a liability, he hurts the side more than he helps it, you only need to watch him kick the ball out of bounds with a free kick under no pressure against Hawthorn to know that.

What about Peter McKenna when he played for Carlton same as Micky McGuane?
