1. Goal umpire standing in the right position should be able to make the correct call. And guess what - They did!
Why, because you dont understand how angles can be perceived and also misleading?

The GU was in the "right" position but he wasnt actually in the "perfect" position though!
2. If the goal camera isn't at the very back of the post (I.e the actual line) then using it adds to the confusion and is completely useless.
Yes, now let's hope The AFL is reading this!
3. If the reviewer is seeing different angles than we are at the ground, then we would be better off seeing nothing.

First, are you making a statement or a comment. If it's the former, I absolutely agree. I have said for quite some time that we dont need to see the 'basic' views of an incident just to come up with the wrong right answer!

just saw an absolute howler in the Essendon Brisbane game. Ball was clearly touched, umpire on field called it touched straight away. Review showed the wrong angles and overuled to call it a goal. Then a replay straight after showed the ball clearly was touched.

Goal review umpire of that game needs to be sacked. To overturn a clear touch he is either dreadfully incompetent or has money on the game

It doesnt get much worse than that!

It's one thing to have a crack at an umpire for making an incorrect call in real time with one veiw that is rarely in the perfect position, but this review system is making a mockery of the game itself!!!

Makes you wonder if umpires bet on footy? There was never a need to review. Yet they did and changed another decision Wrongly! WHY?

What a mess. The blame for this should go to Hocking once he made it an issue of how long one could take on reviews.

Either take as long as necessary or don’t use it at all. Rushed decisions like that are the result of AFL policy.

Just stop reviewing every score. If the goal umpire calls for it, use it and take as long as you need. If the goal umpire doesn't call for it, don't use it and back their decision.

Easier said than done to ask umpires to ‘back their decision’ because even if they get it right 10 times in a row, if they get it wrong the next time the fallout and derision would be enormous.

Under this system you’re almost obliged to use it even if you’re 99.99% sure.

Got to ask the question why the umpire in control reviewed his own decision. He clearly called touched well before the ball got to the goals, yet then decided to review it. He as much to blame as the guy upstairs , as it should have never been reviewed in the first place.
Also I don’t think this type of review is what it was introduced for. So I am calling the central umpire at fault in this one.

The current system has created more controversy than it's cleared up. Better off with umps making a call and we live with the bad decisions.

They review cos it's an AFL directive to review touched calls by the field ump when it goes through for a goal. You can hear the umps on audio in i think it was the Geelong game saying " we have to review these"

All you end up with is a confident decision being made being sent upstairs with poor footage where the reviewer is basically guessing.

So the fault lies with Steve hocking, the man.is so useless I can't understand how he escapes the scruitiny others seem to get when they are shit at their jobs.
