Its a desperately sad situation for his family & his friends, associates, workmates & club supporters. We all feel shocked & sad. Its a thing which happens all to often in society. When we know the people it brings it a lot closer & we feel it all the more.

I feel for all crows people now & wish you all the best, as I'm sure all the other 'outsiders' do too.

For what it's worth condolences to crows supporters, staff and those hurt by Phil Walsh's passing.

It might seem trivial to discuss or console over a web forum but these things have evolved to the point when you cut away the nonsense there is some genuine sentiment expressed.

Ignoring the football aspect, just heartbreaking that a father and son relationship could play out in such a way.

SANFL STATEMENT

The SANFL wishes to express its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Phil Walsh.

A great football person, Phil endeared himself to South Australians initially as a champion on the field and then with his outstanding work as a coach for the Port Adelaide and Adelaide Football Clubs.

Following a request from both of Adelaide’s AFL Clubs, the SANFL can confirm it is postponing the following two matches scheduled for tomorrow;

South Adelaide versus Adelaide - Hickinbotham Oval
North Adelaide versus Port Adelaide - Prospect Oval

These matches will be rescheduled for Round 17 which is a split round.

All players in tomorrow’s three other SANFL matches will wear black armbands, as will all players taking part in the MAC Country Championships being held this weekend at Port Augusta.

A minutes silence will also be observed at all matches.

The SANFL will be making no further comment at this stage.

common sense prevails. this is an unprecedented situation in every respect.

It really is unprecedented, my buddies and I over here have been texting throughout the evening (they know I follow Adelaide) and none of us can think of anything equivalent ever happening this way.

All that can be done is rally around the boys and the family and offer whatever support is possible.

Holy ****. Just saw this oh my god this is so damn sad. Unbelievable. So sad for his family.

I walked down to the AFC Melbourne office at lunch and was going to leave some flowers. The florist that Google say was meant to be there doesn't exist so I wandered around aimlessly for 10 minutes before heading back. I really don't know what to do with myself...

Tragic..... condolences to Phil's wife, daughter, their families and friends.
Terrible day for the AFC, the players and the supporters, as lovers of this great game our thoughts are also with you.
Thoughts are also with the PAFC and our supporters who Phil was with for many years and to all the other clubs and their supporters touched in some way by Phil.
