Yeah, you’re right. SPP would never put his body on the line, he’s as soft as butter.

Different ways. I don't think he's soft, just not as impactful. I think you are confusing me with others. I'd prefer to keep Sam, I'm an SPP fan, I'm just commenting on the Duursma v SPP discussion.

However, if Sam isn't going to have a home where it suits him best, it could be worth him going. Whose he replacing? Wines, Drew, Boak, Butters, Rozee, Amon or Duursma in the midfield rotations? I would suggest he's going to be last on that list whether we like it or not. Unless he can turn his form around and rise above those boys

Those who think his off field shenanigans aren’t as bad are REALLY missing a trick.

I think the difference between Duursma's alleged off field shenanigans and SPP's alleged off field shenanigans is that one affects the player's preparation to play football whereas the other doesn't.

I have sympathy for SPP given his background but at some point he needs to get serious and focused or he'll never reach his potential as a player, at Port or elsewhere. Only the club would know if he's made progress since the time away from the club earlier in the year.

S.Burgoyne needs to get into peps head, I’m sure he’ll get the best out of him. No way should we even be thinking of trading this guy.

Why is Silk the messiah for all indigenous players? Has he a history in this? I hope he is but where’s the form?

I'd suggest running back with the flight multiple times into packs and marking the ball or being robbed of marks is a massive trade mark. Dropped a sitter in the wet in blustery conditions under game pressure, yep, he cost us that game. I'm with ya, no one else made an error to be forever held to account.

What the heck is this people are inventing Duursma having off field shenanigans

If only you knew about Xavier Duursma ...

If Sam has matured this year as a person at all, and really dedicates to a professional off season, he will improve. And an improved SPP is way damned better than any pick we would get for him right now. SPP in tackling beast mode is a sight to see, plus he can kick a goal

For a team that looked so soft both mentally and physically when it mattered most, SPP is the last bloke I'd be looking to move on.

Right at this point in time (still fuming over what we dished up) I'd prefer to lose more and have a team that actually plays to the true Port values than this team of soft talkers that seem more interested in connections and truths and being oh so nice humans than actually winning what matters most.

If we want/need trade picks I'd be looking at the large list of guys that short stepped, pulled out, fell over when they felt perceived pressure, jogged around not caring and generally had no interest in doing anything that might have been deemed hard before guys like SPP.

Not real sure what Hinkley thinks he needs to be successful. I don't think he has any real idea to be honest. He's such a weak man, protects serial failures as they protect him.

The second that Drew's foot injuries flare up again we'll be looking for someone like SPP to step in. Outside of Boak and Wines who are full time mid already, none of the others can cover Drew's role as a defensive mid and extractor. We absolutely still need him.

It’s ironic that he would want to leave for more midfield minutes.

If he improved his running an lost some weight, he could become the exact midfielder we’re looking for
Pretty spot on here,

a inside mid that can kick goals. He is literally what we need. Easy to pack up and leave when things are not going your way. Get super fit, lose weight and make it impossible for the coaches not to start you there. Everyone here know he has the talent.

Admire the guys attack - we haven't had anything like it since Scott Selwood was at the club. I think he would be a player that would compliment an incredibly soft midfield unit over the past 3 seasons.

If Port/SPP were interested in the move then WC fans would definitely embrace him, see what happens next week :thumbsu:
