Still confident Reid goes around our pick. If its not Smith or Draper I hope it is Reid.
Yeah, a Langford/Reid combo would work well. Plenty of decent options available at both picks. I like Tauru as well, but not sure we'll take a punt on him. Same with Hotton. If we have the choice of Reid or Smillie at 9, I'd be taking Reid. Smart player and exactly what we need in the middle.

Langford and O'Sullivan going early really doesnt worry me. I think we'll absolutely select Lalor over anyone if hes there, hes a JT type of player. Loves himself a mid forward.
Can't miss out of Lalor, Smith, Draper, Langford or FOS tbh. I just hope we don't do anything silly at pick 5 and go someone outside of these guys.

Twomey's new phantom added to tracker, however, the consensus rankings haven't been impacted

Would you still take Reid at 9 if Langford is gone and we get Draper or Smith at P5? For me i'd be inclined to look at Smillie more favourably in that scenario.

Players Twomey links us to (there are a lot, lol):
  • FOS
  • Langford
  • Smith
  • Lalor
  • Reid
  • Draper
  • Tauru
  • Armstrong
  • Allan
  • Travaglia

So basically, the entire top 11 minus Smillie. Good lad

I don't think it will be Smilie, doesn't sound like we are linked to him at all.

We definitely interviewed him a few weeks back (Smillie himself mentioned it), though you'd expect us to be doing that with everyone.

Hopefully we've realised that he's the last thing our list needs out of that top 15 or so.

Would anyone be open to splitting 5? For something like Richmond's 10+11?

I don't want to pass up one of those top-five mids, so probably not. Doubt Richmond would offer that much anyway

I don't think the comparison was to Buddy just to the fact that if Jefferson was any good being skinny is not an excuse.

Why are people blaming Jeffo, he doesn’t select the team.

Goodwin will never drop Petty for him. Just like he wouldn’t for Armstrong.

Most people are in agreement that Goodwin lacks selection integrity by constantly playing under performing favourites. Despite that it's still concerning that Jefferson hasn't had a taste after two years in the system. I've said many times before I still have some faith in him but he's running out of time.

I think there are a couple of guys at 5 that could be stars, so I wouldn't.

I would be open to splitting 9. Quite possible that a couple of guys we really like don't make it and then left with a group that we like but confident atleast 1 or more are still going to be there further back.

Teams who who have a particular type of player they want will be looking hard at pick 9. GWS have history trading on draft night as things start to play out. 15,16,21 - I think they would package up to move up. Tigers with 18 and one of their low 20 picks.

Not adding SEN to the tracker as they're not draft specialists (and I've never heard of some cat named Nathan Sepe), but this would be a genuinely disastrous outcome lol: https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/11...tom-draft?mc_cid=b0ad2a15af&mc_eid=b3b6baeac7

I'll be the first to admit I know nothing of the draft but seeing Jobe Shanahan name made me think of the simpsons when they have to go on a tight budget and instead of pork chop night (Reid/Tauru/Travaglia/Lindsay) they go with chubb night (Shanahan) I don't even know what that is.

Having said that after looking him he looks OK but not while those picks are on the board. I don't think Smilie would be a disaster but it's pretty lazy to just go down the line of Melbourne need a forward and reach with the next available KPF.
