Agree we need a strong ruck coach. We need someone to develop some sort of plan to teach our ruckmen (particularly Jols) to not give away free kicks at the centre bounce. Absolutely KILLS us (I think he gave away three in the first quarter on Sat).

I agree that we should get Witts game time next year as well, but like most here I think that his forward game should be primarily worked on (particularly his contested marking / body work).

I don't actually think we need another ruckman on our list, but next year will probably be a transition year where we are slightly poorer (in the ruck) than this year, and slightly poorer than we will be the following year.

totally agree particularly with your points about Witts. I think the next thing we want is a genuine ruck who can genuinely play forward, not halfway houses like Leroy or Keefe.

And Woods is not the answer. Although he is trained to kill he is born to crochet

Is this our soft spot in 2012?

The Ruck. Yeah, it's been talked about. But more specifically, who fills Browns role now that he's gone? If it is actually true that Jolly has a degenerative knee injury, with Brown gone we have lost a valuable back up which only leaves Wood.

I'm interested on your thoughts as to who goes to Browns role and what we can do to help Jolly out whilst our ruck jnr's improve.

I hope Keeffe can develop enough over summer to get a chance at it.

Granted, it means he needs to get more physical, but with his versatility, he is someone who can follow an opposition ruckman forward in general play, and mobile enough to move around the ground on all sized ruckman opponents.

He doesn't have a leap, but his height should allow him to at least make a contest at things like boundary throw-ins (with a fair bit of coaching) and has the required versatility about him (i.e. can play key forward, and can follow opponents into their forwardline if required). He is a very good kick of the football off both feet as well.
