there is no chance of us losing on the weekend...

you can talk all the "ladder position means nothing come anzac day" you want, pies are going to smash the bombers on sunday.... not because essendon are a shambles atm, not because we've got a whole lot more skill than the bombers, not because essendon dont have a midfield, forwrad line or back line, not because we've got a higher average age, not because we've got more games under our belt, we'll win because we lost the unloseable last year, and we wont let it happen again...

Expect this thread to be bumped mercilessly by Essendon supporters should we lose.

You are way way to confident, we lost last year and we never looked like smashing them by a huge margin, even if we had won. Collingwood may have more talls but essendon have a allot of what Collingwood do not have, speed, speed is something Collingwood lacks. Also essesdon are coming of a bad lost and have had the wind put up them by their coach and the media all week, they will come out strong. Are you really so quick to forget the melbourne game Collingwood only just won a few weeks ago?

My recollection of the game last year was that it was a topsy turvy affair, where for the most part, Essendon looked better than us.

It was just that we appeared to have a match winning lead, which just got pinched at the end (by their great play and our couple of bad mistakes) that made it seem the 'unlosable game'

Obviously I hope you're right, but i don't underestimate their team for a minute. Happily, I'm sure the players won't either, which might then lead to a successful outcome.

Have to agree with Chief Ten Beers and Zahki on both their points.

There's absolutely a chance we'll lose OP, but i must say that i have more confidence in Collingwood now than what i ever have. Main reason is that our defence is so freaking good, and against a side that is lighter bodied, less experienced, has far less class and a flog-filled forward line i think we'll get up.

Here's hoping anyway.

Since the last meeting, Essendon have lost...

Lucas (who kicked 3 goals).
Lloyd (2 goals).
McPhee (29 disposals, he was their best player on Anzac Day).
Lovett (1 goal, kicked 2 goals in the Anzac Day game).

Is like a final, anything can happen but there is a fair talent output Essendon have lost since the last clash.

I think we have shown in 4 games this year, and in previous years, that our football team has a form of inconsistency which is unparalleled.

On our day, we are nigh on unbeatable, yet some weeks, Richmond could beat us (well Melbourne should have, you get the point).

This because we do rely almost solely on our intensity and commitment on match day to be near 100% or quite simply we look "lazy" and terrible.

Thus, for the rest of this year, I will talk us up like we can beat anyone (because I genuinely believe we can) but in my heart I will always be nervous, mainly concerned to which version of the Collingwood Football Club is going to turn up this week.

We know what to expect from Essendon this week, near to their best effort with their season on the line in their Grand Final, but we really don't know what Collingwood will deliver this week.

The "good Collingwood" would win this game easily, no matter what Essendon throws at us, but if the "bad Collingwood" turns up, then we will have a thriller will be on hands.

In other words, cmon "Good Collingwood".:D:thumbsu:

I hope the players learnt the lesson against Melbourne, that no team in this competition should be underestimated.

I feel some of the supporters are getting a little cocky, but that's ok I guess so long as the players don't start thinking the same.

Summed up perfectly Matty.

Hence why it's hell to be a Collingwood supporter. We're the most unpredictable side out there.

:mad:great just great! your jinxing it!

It really depends which Collingwood turns up ....and for that reason alone I could never be too confident unfortunately.

That's why my wife says i am too unconfident. There is not a match we go into where we couldn't lose if we don't come to play. The Melbourne game was almost proof of that. Shge bags me for being a nervous supporter but I feel it is justified as the 'bad Collingwood' always lurks.

This thread is exactly the same as about 3 threads created on the blues board a few weeks ago before they faced us.

"Essendon are rabble"

"They have no forward line"

"Their midfield is so far below ours it will be a massacre"

"If we don't win by over 60 points I'll b e livid"

All this after we had beaten them the last 5 times, the last one being by around 70 pts! Go figure.

Amazing how these threads just seem to disappear minutes after they lost.

Other than the original poster you guys seem a little more sensible. Sure you are definately strong favourites but history has shown this doesnt mean much on Anzac day. Infact I think I heard that the underdog has won 50% of the time.

Good luck guys, hope it's a great game.

I'm never super confident about any game, at best I get cautiously confident, but I was super confident against Melbourne a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't even entertain them getting within 50 points of us prior to the game.

Lesson has been learnt.

I'm back to cautiously confident and always prepared for the worst. It's way better for my health.

Carlton supporters though are the most stupid on these boards, even worse than the Sainters.

I tipped Essendon to win that game because as you say, you always beat them.

I expect Essendon to come out all guns blazing after last weeks effort and really test the Pies and they are certainly a chance to win.

Im actually really worried about this game. Essendon are treating this like their grand final! Their captain has put the heat on his players saying they must step up! Just hope the Pies bring their A game and beat them comfortably!

Just like the Melbourne Game the heat is on our opponent, just like the Melbourne game I have a bad feeling. The Media have come out at given them a spay, their coach has pushed them hard and now there Captain the poor mans Dane Swan, Mr Jobe Watson has said its all or nothing and there season is riding on this weekend. Expect Essendon to come out hard and I believe will be in the lead in the early stages just hope Collingwood will rally, steady and run over the top.
