Again, I'd love to hear why you're ao scarred
I'm neither scarred or scared.

I despise Essendon for the damage they did to North Melbourne by forcing the VFL to hamstring North Melbourne when we were admitted to the league. That resulted in 50 years of struggle that was only overcome in the 1970s when our club was smart enough to take advantage of the ten year rule.

For that alone I will always despise Essendon Football Club and their born to rule arrogance.

I don't want to see Essendon die for their doping program but I do want to see Essendon reduced to the laughing stock of the competition for a decade or more.

And I've been laughing my guts out for the past couple of years at Essendon being found out and held accountable.

I bow to your actual knowledge, but I remain cynical. When Grocon gets fined $350k for actually killing 3 people I will see Workcover as a wet lettuce. Particularly when Hunter will not be able to demonstrate any actual harm. Failure to keep and produce records may well produce a fine for Essendon but considering all the other clubs have already been cleared I'd be dubious if even that charge will stick.

He has engaged a non-win-no-fee law firm. This is fishing for a settlement.
Grocon were never charged with the deaths
That case is yet to be heard and it is not Grocon who have been charged with that

I can't imagine being so tribal I would hate someone/something for events that happened decades before my birth
As you well know I don't hate Essendon supporters.

If by some quirk of fate your club was gutted and hamstrung by another club that meant they had to struggle to survive for 50+ years you might have some understanding.

Could be worse. He could win. That would be a much worse precedent.

how ridiculous.

if hal hunter wins, it means that either Essendon are unable to supply him with the information or the information given points to a pharmacologically experimental regime that has no place in a sporting team.

the precedent set would mean that in future clubs will be far more likely to consider oh&s with regards to their players.

if hal wins and it means that Essendon are screwed, then so be it. dont go shooting up your employees with random drugs. its pretty simple.

It's the same kind of thinking that perpetuates Northern Ireland bombings and Middle East internecine warfare, but hey, sing your song with pride I guess
That tribal ideology is both ways and no I don't understand it. The good thing about kids nowadays they don't usually follow a team based on family or location lines anymore. The downside is the shitty attitude that comes with being 'that' individual.

Lol Lance you've jumped the shark with that comparison!

Now come on and join in the chorus...

Hearts to hearts and hands to hands, beneath the blue and white we stand...

One thing though, it wont be just personal injury, there will be another huge level of malpractice on the EFC behalf that will border on criminal. I work for a large Aussie manufacture, yes there are still a few of us around :p. I deal with work safety a lot. If hunter requests the records of what he was injected with and why it was used and EFC can not provided it...well there fines just from Work cover a lone would be massive, they will treat is as seriously as criminal negligence.

The personal injury claim will just be a section of the actual suit imo
The most EFC can be fined under WHS is $100k as per the below. Now that might be per player or a one off depends on how the case is carried out.

You'd imagine that legal action by players would be civil suits for damages and wouldn't be bound by the WHS Act penalties.

But hasn't he only asked for the list of shit they gave him at this stage?

Surely Essendon can't get away with settling at this point can they? They'd become the OJ Simpson of the footy world (if they're not already).

This really does put Essendon in a very awkward position.

They either hand over what they've got, and it proves they do NOT know what the players were given. In that event, they again shown up to be bald faced liars. Simon Madden, Paul Little, Hird, the lot of 'em will again proven to be nothing but flat out liars.

Or they pay this dude off to put it to bed. As per above, how on earth could they possibly justify paying someone out when all they are asking for is a simple and innocent list of safe and legal substances they were injected with?

Or they hand over what they've got and it has TB-4 and/or other banned shit on it.

The only way they can win from this, is to hand over the full list of substances and it's all legit. But if they had this, I think we all know they'd have done so years ago and we wouldn't be sitting here.

Someone really needs to find a way to get Dank in court.

My Dad was in World War 2... and until the day he died, he despised Japanese people. When I say he was IN world war 2, he was 16 and lied about his age to get into the war. He sailed on his first ship after the bombs had been dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Their first port of call? Hiroshima - to help with the clean up. Could never understand his hate. Not to this day.

For me... I develop an anti-feeling against a particular club if something nasty has happened generally between our two clubs, but sometimes when I think a club/players may have crossed the line generally. Never really worried about Essendon - despite they fact they had the most amazing come back to beat us in our very first preliminary final. In fact I mostly admired them. Safe to say that is no longer the case.

You can pay-off anyone at anytime you like. Hal here is $30k bucks, half for your lawyer and half for you. Drop your case. Sign this bit of paper.

3 weeks time a 2 line statement at the bottom of some article or other saying Hunter has dropped his case. HTB has a thread about how this is proof that Essendon is just wonderful because if Hunter had a case he would have kept going.

Essendon's Annual Report has them spending $5m on this stuff over the last 2 years (and that is only what is on the books). They will have spent less on lunches than it will take to make this case go away.

Someone really needs to find a way to get Dank in court.
The next problem for the Bombers is if Hal just wants to know what they gave him and doesn't really care about the money...

This is crazy rich, are you serious?

Lol - nowhere near as crazy as some of the stuff Essendon supporters have spouted since this saga blew up! I'm passionate about North Melbourne and yes I despise Essendon as a club for what was done to North Melbourne for admission to the VFL (look up the history).

Essendon are my Great Satan in the football world and some Schadenfreude over something Essendon brought on themselves is from my perspective a wonderful thing. I don't want to see Essendon kicked from the league but will be happy to see them languish at the bottom of the ladder and as the laughing stock of the AFL for years to come.

It's nothing like the comparison Lance Uppercut made earlier about religious zealots slaughtering each other for generations.

I think the AFL conspired with various entities to create the exact outcome that they wanted, regardless of anything we had to say or provide. I also think they failed at that. And I also think that for a short period of time, Stephen Dank gave 7(8?) of our players Thymosin beta 4.
What outcome is that? No players to be banned because that is their desired outcome.
