He said in the press conference that he had no intentions of meeting with the players today. They are on break so it would be virtually impossible to get them all together.
Yeah they'd all be on holidays, he'd probably be meeting with them 1 by 1 as they come back.

Yep you'd be right, however it didn't stop SNF from bullshitting in their photo caption of Ross Lyon at the presser "New Fremantle coach Ross Lyon met his Dockers players before a media conference in Perth"

The headline implies that Pav is dirty with the decision, labelling it ruthless, but that's just how he coined the industry as a whole and in his next line stated how excited he was to be working with such a professional and intelligent coach.

But he will no doubt want his new players to be a little more well behaved than his last lot. So I'd think he may just lay down the law and let them know he won't be standing for that kind of shit.
though pav could have chosen his words a little better. made it a bit too easy for the media flogs to twist his words for there agenda.

Hopefully that wont be necessary with our guys, but on a serious side, there were some fairly strong rumours at the beginning of the year that Lyon had enough of the DH stuff some of the players were involved with. I have a firm belief in the No DH rule when it comes to list management, Harves seemed to have it and I'm confident Lyon will too.

Was Lyon the coach of St Kilda when they took a punt on Gardner? After he had basically destroyed any chance of playing AFL again?

I think so also. I also think the possibility of Fev wearing purple next year just went up a little. Maybe not a lot but none the less he has more chance now I reckon.
I think the sporting landscape has changed.
Player continually trucks up, club is loyal, club is in the wrong. New club picks up said player, helps them get their life on track, new club is good.
Richmond with Cousins, the dogs with Hall, and to a lesser extent Gardiner at the Saints are seen as heart warming, life changing stories.

2012 Mid season review :Lyon wins the first 12 straight and Fev kicks 50... No ones complaining. All other scenarios he's on a hiding to nothing.
Lyon looks at the cleanskin dockers and says this is going to be a holiday... Saints players expected to win a premiership, acted like arrogant spoilt little rich kids and believed they could do no wrong, ala eagles in the cousins, Fletcher,Chick and Kerr days but they won the premiership. Saints will wake up today ringing sheeds for a contract. Not good times for the Sainters.
Let's hope Lyon learnt from that and won't let it happen again.
