I have noticed that a lot of players move between clubs, but is this consistent or are their patterns, (I am talking about the pre draft era)

Did some clubs transfer lots of players because they were located beside each other (Collingwood Richmond/Fitzroy/Carlton)
Did some clubs have a lower transfer rate than other clubs (Geelong because it was more regional?)
Are there any known patterns?

Yes - I think there is some potential hers

Or to or from a club through a season (Except for start years). A big exodus or influx

It can be hard to measure as players could have gone to the VFA and back again in earlier years.
There was probably a lot of movement in 1945-46 with the VFA returning
