So with the draft over and the new guys on board I figured we might as well keep the off season going with speculation over who might get the available numbers. Lots of low digits up for grabs

16 is the interesting one. Stanley? Curren? Ferguson? Ross?

I may be going a little early on Ledger, but I kinda like the idea of him wearing the number 10 - perhaps because he's harder than a goat's knee!

I know alot of people will say "it's only a number on the back of a jumper" but I am one of those weird old school types who thinks you need to earn it.

I'm not a fan of a new recruit coming straight into the side and been given not just a high number but a number that has been previously worn by a legend of the club. I think all newbies should start low and work their tails off and earn the right to wear the same number of players past.

Certain numbers should also have alittle hiatus (1-3 years) depending on who last wore it. I think it is an incredible mark of respect to the previous player and what they gave to the club.

Certain number have very big shoes to fill and I personally don't think they should be given out lightly.

10 has traditionally been our ruck's number, was broken when Everitt handed his jersey to his best mate, Baker. Wouldn't mind it going back to a ruck in the future - maybe keep it on hold for a year.

I say keep the kids in big numbers until they earn a spot.
Getting a small number means more then.

I think showing faith in the younger players by giving them the low numbers makes them feel more confident in their abilities and thus makes them better players. If we gave Ledger the 10# I think he'd rise to the challenge magnificently.

I guess last year's pick 75 getting #2 would have had you scratching your head?

Beau Wilkes' comments about being picked up were interesting - the interest from the Saints gave him an extra shot of confidence.

Not sure whether this works with numbers, but I'd guess some would get a boost?

It's interesting that we almost all agree that Ledger should get the #10.

2 years ago I remember doing this and we had the same feeling about Jonsey picking up the #4.

Also I will be buying many, many Farren Ray badges next year. He took a pay cut to stay here when he could've walked for more. If players get a cut of their merch then we need to make it up to him!
