Players under 24 to have a breakout season.

I think he will still be the focus of most teams planning and they will do a lot of work at stopping him getting a run at the ball. He isnt that strong yet and I think 2017 may be a tough year for him. Fasolo will help if he plays the whole season, Elliott we just hopes gets on the park, wont expect too much from him in 2017

Yeah I agree he'll be oppositions major focus. I'm just saying it'll be a lot easier for him to "break out" if Collingwoods other forwards can draw some attention away.

Would help if he could hit a target.

Disposal efficiency is 75%... 3% above the league average and averaged almost 28 touches and 5 tackles this year.

One of the more under the radar guys in the league.

He's under the radar and a good player, but I'd be a bit surprised if he got any better. His radar was also way off in the first half of the grand final. He kicked it to Sydney players about 3 times in a row.

Jackson Macrae for next year, already a gun but people will be forced to take notice next year

Macrae is well and truly established by now. It's just that the commentators and keyboard warriors don't notice how much gut running he does and how many goals he sets up.

He was also one of the few guys on the field in the second half when the pressure was at fever pitch to calmly use the football with short kicks to targets. The terrific centering ball that McLean should have marked and lead to Picken's goal comes to mind.

I think he's perceived as just another accumulator with little hurt factor. Don't agree with it but that's how it often is with guys who win so much footy.

Will really go a long way towards another finals campaign if teams rate Macrae as a poor user. He is an enormous gut runner who sets up so many scoring chances.

His ball use is questioned, because he (like the team) really take difficult options that others are not prepared to take.

Might want to get your eyes checked. He's our most creative ball user by foot, and regularly pulls of ridiculously hard centring kicks.

Also 39 disposals in the semi final against Hawthorn @ %82, in one of the most high pressure finals of the year tells me that hitting targets is the least of his problems.

You'd be "surprised" if a 22 year old (just turned 22) 191cm lanky mid "got any better"?

Once he puts on more muscle and starts to take advantage of his 191cm frame, he will start dominating on the inside as well as the outside. Then he will truly become a nightmare for opposition similarly to Bont.

Darcy Moore could be set to make a huge impact next year.
As I mentioned above might be a year too soon. Lightweight KPF who will get lots of planning and attention in 2017. Will be a great outcome if he can get 30-35 goals next season and stay fit. Parallels with Joe Daniher who is 1 key forward who may break out in 2017.

I think if he is able to improve his one-on-one ability and be able to impose himself in more one-on-one contests he will go the next step IMO. In saying that, it may be difficult for a player to achieve that when he still hasn't physically developed himself to a high level yet. No question though that when he's got space and separation on his opponent and is able to get a relatively free run at the the ball, he is difficult to stop with his height, reach and strong hands. Look forward to watching him next year and see how he develops.

I agree and as much as it hurts me to say it as he plays for the Pies i reckon he is an absolute GUN key forward and the Pies have got a gem on their hands for the next 10 years. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Moore will have a better season than Daniher IMO in 2017 and the better career.

I think Daniher is likely to be well ahead of Moore in 2017, should end up in the 50-60 goals /season range at a minimum. Over their careers they will probably be pretty similar but Danihers seniority leaves him ahead for now.

Darcy is the much better kick for goal while Daniher goes from 1-6 one week to 4 straight the next with no consistency in his kicking at all from week to week.

Gimme Darcy any day if could choose between both as of right now for my current Carlton team.

Not sure Daniher will kick that many goals next season. He's a fair chance to spend more time at CHF with Hooker playing deep.

For how much you gave up you would hope so
A first and second? Yeah look we didn't give up that much plus we expected to lose both firsts for both Mitchell and O'Meara.

I believe O'Meara will be slow at the start of the season, then mid season once his confidence is up with his body its when he will shine so don't judge him too early.
Mitchell could and should be huge. More time in the centre and around the ball can only me positives.

This is one I'm pretty confident about. Daniher's 2016 was underrated. They can both sit on someone's head and take a great grab, but Daniher's workrate, ability to cover ground, field kicking - can kick 60m bullets and hit a teammate on the chest - and ability to lift at important moments is incredible. I consider his hands a bigger issue than his kicking - he holds onto plenty marks but doesn't take them particularly cleanly like Moore and drops a lot he should take. Wraps his hands over the top and brings it down to his chest a bit awkwardly rather than just plucking them from the air.

When I've watched Moore, he almost only takes his marks against medium defenders like Wellingham and Biggs, and he only does anything inside the forward 50 - not an indictment, and Collingwood's options might have something to do with it, but he still has a lot to prove. You could find exceptions (one on Rance in particular stands out), but he struggles much more on actual key defenders. I would rate Moore's agility as superior but he's still inferior at ground level: Moore looks hard to keep up with on the lead but Daniher regularly takes on much smaller opponents with ball in hand and manages to bolt past them, which I haven't seen with Moore. I'm not scared by the prospect of Moore, unlike someone like Hogan or Lynch, despite his athletic attributes. He's only 20 but he doesn't seem to have a heap of strings to his bow - he can run and jump at the ball very impressively but not much else yet. He's got a heap of talent but he's got a lot to show before I consider him equal to or superior to Daniher.

From our POV I reckon Angus Brayshaw. Concussion pending, of course, but he's so poised, and dual sided. Reckon he could stand to lose a bit of size, just for the sake of having a more consistent impact.
