Fred Fanning kicked a lazy 18.1 in his last ever game. He finished with 97 goals in his last season,probably should've gone on.

Graham Moss won the Brownlow in 1976 with a ridiculous 48 votes. He was to never play in the VFL again after that season.

I suppose they wanted to go out on a high.

Seems silly to argue this point in a 4 year old thread, but Graham Moss did go back to Perth and was the captain/coach of Claremont for 6 years (winning the flag in 1981) - back when the WAFL was actually a legitimate top level comp.

I was thinking the same thing. Barry was in great form when he retired and could have easily gone another season.

Seem to recall him saying something along the lines of 'he couldn't have done another pre-season and gave it all for his last few games', but on form alone you would have said he could have played on....
