Backing back into a pack I copped a knee to the outside of my right thigh, popping a blood vessel. Swelled up massively on impact and have been treating it since. I have had a compression bandage on my leg and have been icing it on and off since Sunday. Big bruise is up, swelling pretty low. Was on crutches Sunday/Monday. Walking Tuesday, walking freely Wednesday and jogged 2 laps at training as well as going on the bike. Sore as last night, could hardly sleep, hopping around today.
Anyone else had similar? What do i do now?
Big game coming up in 10/11 days. Want to be out on the paddock.

Thats a bad injury, have never herd about that happening in a footy game before. Have you seen a sports doctor? wont you need to have some fluid drained out??? 3 - 4 weeks sounds about right

Absolutely spewing.
Getting some fluid drained out by the looks of it, had an ultra sound yesty and waiting for results.
If that is to happen how long would I be looking at?

CarltonBlue I know your hurting mentally but maybe having 4 weeks out would be the best option. Despite your club needing you presence on field due to your amazing leadership attributes, think of the long term situation. You wouldn't want what seems like a small injury now, developing into something much more significant and potentially ruining your 2010 season which will spring board you into AFL draft considerations.

Any updates on your injury?
Ultrasound came back with hematoma, collection of blood. Bending and straightening my leg was difficult but last 4-5days of treatment has helped significantly to the point where I am moving as freely as normal.
Done some jogging today, even some very short sprinting and have pulled up fine. Very difficult to kick, anything over 25m is impossible on my right (normally about a 40-45m kick).
Will have my first training session back tomorow, see how I go.
Hopefully can play this week, but realistically I will probably be back the week after.

If anyone was interested, trained without problem on Wed and Friday. Was generally sore from no running for 3weeks and then played Sunday and lacked match fitness but wasnt far off my best. Can still feel an abnormality* in my thigh but didnt bother me. The trainers put a tiny piece of foam over it and taped the crap over it :S

I had a burst blood vessel in my elbow a few weeks back, was tackled and landed on the point of my elbow and it stung for a little bit but not mcuh pain and a bit of brusing. Played the next week and on the sunday morning woke up and 7 inches either side of my elbow was purple.

Go xrays and clear of a break, doctor said could take 6 months for brusing to go away but it only took 3 weeks and its all good now. Looks a lot scarier than it actually is.
