Someone needs to expose the truth of the PB's and the most recent deal we did to wear it in our 150th year.

That debate every year is a diversion, it distracts from actual issues and plays on the passion of Port Adelaide people, it's a political move activated by a politician in Koch everytime we aren't going well on the field. If we do get to wear it (which I don't think will happen, not anytime soon) Koch will use it to solidify his position. Something so dear to Port Adelaide people should never be used for political point scoring as it is.

At some point the PB issue & request needs to be exposed for what it actually is.
So what is the true deal with the P.B
Is there really any chance of seeing the P.B every season

I now recall when asked about the PB, Koch said they had thought about just wearing it for the game they wanted to, I assume that's 2021 showdown, but the consequences from the AFL - $$$ fines and points deduction ( and their general vindictiveness) they decided not to do it.

Nice to know we have an administration that is easily bullied into laying down its sword on issues important to its membership base! Great job guys!

Regarding the Prison Bars (PB)

A lot of us including myself are pissed off about not being able to wear the PB, but no one actually has any detailed suggestions on how we can solve the issue. Currently the AFL is blocking us from wearing the PB with 4 point deduction and a fine that could be substantial.
We unfortunately also have the other issue of being taken to court by Collingwood FC based of the so called "legally" binding contract we signed.

Some of you may say its simple we need to take control of the PAFC board ie members control who are on the board. I have no objection to this.
But even if we take control of the board how would we "fight" the AFL & Collingwood into allowing us to wear the PB?

Are we hoping in a policy change by the AFL when we get a new AFL CEO this year?

Maybe we should start taking steps by using this forum on how we can bring back the PB rather than complaining about the "lack of action". We as fans/members need to push the PAFC board even if unfortunately they have "stopped". I know many of you have raised the PB question in countless AGMs & by other means which is great.
But without real solutions how could we solve an ongoing problem? Sometimes the best ideas come from passionate members like ourselves then from people sitting around a table in an organisation.

We need to take a proactive approach by the means of having solutions thought up by the members of this forum and the wider PA community to find ways we can solve the issue. And the way we start is through this forum. We talk about this club needing to be run by the members for the members but we need to live up to this motto.

Change can only occur if we all embrace it. We could come up with a document with suggestions on the PB and submit it during the 2024 members AGM directly to Kosh or whoever in front of hundreds of us. This could be eye opening moment for the PAFC staff.

This is just my suggestion and my 2 cents on the topic... apologies if its already been tried before...

Suggest you have a look at this thread:

It also has a link back to Pt 1.
Sadly the current "leadership" don't seem particularly interested.

The threats from AFL House should be like a red rag to a bull for anyone with any sort of pride. Forget the PBs, I'd defy their orders for the sole purpose of not getting bullied and intimidated. Pathetic, weak, spineless leadership.

Koch and Richardson claim they didn’t know about the Crows’ governance sunset clause.

Koch was adamant he had a contract that said the Suns can’t wear red.

While COO Richardson was unaware where the idea was coming from that the club was self-identifying as small (spoiler alert, the Chairman and CEO).

We’re not exactly run by Brendon Gale and Brian Cook.

**** we are not exactly run by Terry Cochrane let alone those 2.

Speaking of this.

How's the club planning on being carbon neutral.

They do know they need to offset the coaches box and board as they're all collectively inanimate carbon rods?
Interesting 4 Corners show tonight about carbon offsets trading in Papua New Guinea and how it's being rorted.

Maybe Koch and Richo should get some ideas from that episode!

And precisely how much damage would a 4 point deduction have done last season? ;)

Koch was more worried about the fine than the points. Would dent his fiscal cred.

Wear them and cop the fine and points deduction and then do it again the next week and keep doing it until a reasonable compromise is reached. The AFL aren't going to bankrupt a club or have them unable to attain points indefinitely because of some trivial pissant issue that hardly anyone cares about.

didn't we find out that there's nothing in the AFL's protocol to say they can or could deduct points for a team not wearing the correct guernseys? i guess they could just rewrite the rules that week as they always do, but that kind of dishonesty would've just been a win in our favour in the public battle. which brings us back to why nothing happened, we don't want to challenge or look better than the league, we are just playing our role.

Nothing more than empty threats that we didn't test.

If we had the balls do do this, we'd probably actually get to 100k members

Excellent post, the only way it will change is when the main protagonist move on.
Eddy has gone and soon Gil will depart, precipitating a power vacuum at AFL head -quarters.

A distraction like this, with the Clubs trying to take back and influence of the AFL could be an ideal distraction for us.
The next move should be a dialogue with the Brown, the new Pies President (who the H/Sun tagged as the most influential person in the AFL)
