Gold Coast, GWS, Fremantle. Who will breakthrough?

Zero discussion about the Giants given their season has concluded; all of their fans must still be processing things.

Couldn't get the job done last night against an experienced Finals outfit, and lost in a damning manner - out in straight sets, too.

Have they got the list to go again in 2025? Adam Kingsley comes across as an intense coach, will he be able to drive the group to greater things, or will he start to wear them down?

There's a lot to like about their make-up; Jesse Hogan has become the comp's best F50 marking target, Brent Daniels took a big step forward as a midfield/forward conduit, and in Briggs, Taylor and Green they have some strong foundations to build around.

Whitfield and Kelly are still classy players and they've got a few years left yet.

So what will it take to make that next step? They're not far off.

There are similarities, and at least Fagan knows it. Port and Brisbane are two clubs happy to be consistently in the mix, without actually threatening winning.

This week, though, the similarity is a different one. No one expected Port to win (I tipped Port); and the Lions were supposed to be dead at 3QT. Yet, both won.
Port should have won, better list, Hawks still rebuilding, at home and key Hawk players out. Media was just hyping Hawks up prematurely .

GWS should have won but Brisbane on their day can beat anyone.

The problem for both clubs is consistency, Port has put in its one.effort for the finals and will get crushed by Sydney. Brisbane will probably lose due to inaccuracy.

The long and expensive contracts that we have needed to give to the likes of Conglio, Kelly, Greene and Whitfield are going to be thorns in our side. There is little left to attract in a monetary sense other experienced players that would give that extra edge that would be needed to win a flag.

There is some good signs up forward such as young players like McMullin and Jones that will develop and while I have been a critic of Cadman he has shown some signs late this season.

Bit of a discrepancy. One celebrated with the crowd and his players. The other is hated by his own teams fans, sledged a 21 year old and turned into a aeroplane ✈️
21 is the new 14
It wasn't about some celebration with the crowd though, was it? It was about dismissing Port. "See you in 2 weeks"

We haven’t yet. Unless we get the spoon we probably won’t.
In saying that he did a phenomenal job this season in getting us to where we ended up. What with injuries, being away from home for so long etc.
Kingsley is a better coach than Cameron, might need a new fitness coach though as those fourth quarter fade outs have been concerning.
Not just in the finals but when the Giants played us this year, we were running all over the top of them after they faded out late in the game.

dimma must be something else then. He was rooting staffers in the back of the coaches box whilst out-pointing Scott in 3 cut-throat finals
Chris Scott did well to keep us in the top 4 for so many years despite having bog average cattle.
Not to mention the fact Dangerfield was carrying injuries and running on fumes by September, as he was having to carry sides full of bog average players.

Think you are confusing them for GCS and GWS.

Both Port and Brisbane have had success in the 21st century. Its hard to see GCS or GWS ever winning a flag.
Yeah nah.
Sydney and West Coast are the only Non Victorian clubs that aren't making up the numbers.

Sydney because AFL HQ have a vested interest in the Swans being successful.
West Coast because they are the biggest/richest club so despite their current predicament, they'll be back in business soon enough.

For a team who has made 5 Grand Finals since the turn of the century, we must be pretty good at making up the numbers.

GWS need to capitalise on where they are at now. Win it with this group in the next 2-3 seasons otherwise it might be back to the drawing board.

GCS, who bloody knows? They are improving but still flaky as. Feel they could potentially be top four next year if they recruit well and iron out a few bugs, but also feel they could as easily be a 9-12 side.

Four of those were due to having a retention allowance, cost of living allowance and concessions from the Fitzroy merger.
And the GC handouts have equated to what exactly?

That team was 95% primarily set as the Brisbane Bears after years of turmoil and got pushed over the edge by Leigh Matthews. Cut the crap.

Don’t get sucked in by the trolls.

Or if you do, point out that if their rationale is that the only way non Vic teams can win in this league is with concessions, thereby admitting that the comp is essentially a yearly #VICBIAS benefit.

But but but Port supporters are always told SANFL flags were easy to win.. why has no one told South Adelaide?
I ask that question everyday lol .

South's flag drought has reached to 61 years.

Port AFL drought stretched back to 2004. Ports SANFL drought goes back to 1999.

It's hard to see Gold coast or GWS ever winning a flag? I agree.

Hell it's gonna be hard for Freo to currently winning one if they ever do.

Yeah Freo finished 10th in a tight season. Do they have upside? Yes. But that doesn't automatically translate to a flag

Brisbane had their fair share of good and bad times.

I enjoyed Brisbane's finals run between 1999 until 2004.

Yeah Brisbane had that tough period of 2010 until 2018. They didn't make finals once in that period.

I enjoyed most of Brisbane's 2019 to 2024 finals run. I only wished Brisbane won a flag in either 2020 or 2023
