Here's my preliminary team, will no doubt change heavily before Round 1 but as Paddy above, would love any feedback:

Backline:

Goddard (VC) - Gibbs - Frawley - Hurley - Trengove - Otten - Schofield

Hunt - Toy - Faulks

Midfield:

Swan (C) - A.Swallow - Thomas - Jack - Rockliff - DeBoer

D.Swallow - A.Krakouer - C.Beams

Rucks:

Sandilands - Leuenberger

Petrie - Charman

Forward line:

Franklin - J.Riedwolt - LeCras - Banfield - Dennis-Lane - Hardingham - Gamble

N.Ablett - Mzungu - Darling

Obviously gone a bit too expensive in the midfield and I don't have a single Geelong player and would like to remedy that.

Frawley is injured and won't play Round 1.

Backs: Goddard Gibbs Deledio Johncock Grimes otten Heppel (toy duigan hibberd)
Mids: Swan Boyd Bartell Mclean Swallow Gaff (harris Atley Mzungu)
rucks: Sandilands Cox (Smith Bailey)
Forwards: chapman Sylvia N reidwolt Higgins KNights Petrie Prestia(richardson matera callihan)

Bank $14,400

Any critsicim or views good or bad let me now cheers

I would swap prestia with mzungu. downgrade gaff to a lower priced rookie mid and use ur money to upgrade johncock or mclean

B: Goddard, Lake, Gibbs, Delidio, Otten, Duigan (Heppel, Toy, Cripps)
M: Swan, Boyd, Montagna, L Anthony, D Swallow, D Harris (B Jacobs, M Wallis, I Smith)
R: Sandilands, Cox (J Tippet, Z Smith)
F: Chapman, Sylvia, N Riewoldt, C Wilson, Petrie, A Krakouer, Mzungu (Matera, C Richardson, Callinan)

Have $67,800 left over

What do you guys reckon? I'm a bit iffy about starting 2 rookies in the midfield, but at the same time it will pay off later down the track. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, cheers

You could afford to sell one of Cox or Sandi, and put Petrie in the rucks. Other than that, you'd hope 2 of your bench players in your midfield play round 1 with GC having the by round 1. Other than that, you're team is one of the best I've seen assembled.

Just an opinion on my team would be greatly appreciated
B: Goddard, Broughton, Gibbs, Gilbert, Deledio, Otten, Toy (Coad, Diugan, Hibberd)
M: Swan, Bartel, Hodge, Gaff, D Swallow, D Harris (Heppell, M Wallis, Mzungu)

Bartel is possibly next in-line for the tag behind Selwood now that GAJ has gone...that would possibly be my only qualm after a quick look-over.

Thoughts on my team so far guys...

B: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Enright, Shaw, Otten, Heppell (Talia, Toy, Duigan)
M: Swan, Boyd, Bartel, Kerr, Swallow, Gaff (Krakouer, Wallis, Harris)
R: Sandilands, Cox (Smith, McCauley)
F: Franklin, Reiwoldt, Pavlich, O'Keefe, Knights, Petrie, Matera (Mzungu, Richardson, Callinan)

Cash: $131k

This is only my first team, obviously set to change depending on NAB Cup and stuff like that. But none-the-less pull it apart guys!

I know Kerr is cheap, but I can't see him returning to anywhere near his best. I can't see McCauley making any money for you. Better to pick Lobbe or Tippett that will at least give you DP.

Yeh not a chance in hell of Kerr reaching his peak again (sad from an eagles fan pov!) but o figure they will be trying like hell to keep him on the park and i reckon he can crack a 70-75ppg average, should make him an easy upgrade reckon

BACKS: Goddard, Lake, Gibbs, Delidio, Suban, Otten, Heppell (Toy, Faulks, Duigan)

Mids: Swan, Boyd, Hodge, Zaharakis, Swallow, Gaff (Harris, Mzungu, Atley)

Rucks: Sandilands, Jolly (Hale, Gorringe)

Forwards: Chapman, Riewoldt, Higgins, Knights, Petrie, A. Krakeour, Morton (Matera, Darling, Steinberg)

Lake will be underdone. More of an upgrade target. No need to put Zaha in mids with Mzungu link. Suban is questionable but could be good, make sure you confirm his role come NAB before committing.

Who is this Steinberg guy?

Thanks yogibbear, made the below changes from your feedback.

Out: Lake, Suban
In: Broughton, Coad

Out: Zaharakis
In: Sylvia, Jacobs (Mzungu moved to forward)

Out: Higgins, Steinberg
In: Didak

Sylvia gives me DP link between midfield & forward line
Jacobs between midifield & backline

Not quite what i meant... but generally that's okay... you did see the news about Jacobs right? Has the entire DT world in meltdown...

Any thoughts?

Please rate my team, I'm sure I will change it multiple times before the season starts.

Also in regards to Conca starting on the field, that is due to GC having the bye, I will swap in either one of Harris or Swallow after the byes.

I think you should look at the bye schedule for the year...

Also that is the worst ruck setup i have seen posted on here that was being serious. Otherwise most of your selections are OK, though some are interesting, but should pay off. Most of the 'going against the grain' players you've picked all have reasons to do well this year.

Cheers, thanks for the quick reply, my reasoning for the rucks are that I'm expecting Sandi to have a big year and do well again, Goldstein will most likely spend a lot of time sitting in the forward line due to the new interchange rule and having Macintosh (SP?) out with injury should see him playing a lot of game time.

Campbell I chose because of his cheap price tag for a mature aged ruck, and considering Melbourne are possibly on the light side for big bodied ruckman he could possibly get some game time if form/injury warranted.

Lycett I went with due to the cheap price tag again, and possibly because he may get game time in the year if Cox's body can't hold up for 22 rounds.

I'm also not to sure on what you meant by "against the grain" players if you could further clarify a bit on that and maybe offer some advice on who to possibly change. :thumbsu:

How does this look fellas? Feedback would be much appreciated.
Not bad indie.

Obviously using a widescreen monitor so your web browser doesn't take up the whole screen. This is good, no need to change that.

Interesting wallpaper, not really sure what is going on with the black lines though. You'd really want a keeper in that postion. I'd look at trading it out into something that will improve your side. More colours maybe?

Your use of mac is quite fail though. There is no saving you there. Delete your team and start again.

Hope that helped you :)

Maybe, but I think it's incredibly doubtful of him playing enough high-quality games to be a good upgrade target. But if you feel good about his selection, go with your gut and it might pay off.

too much durability risk in your forward line.

too many rookies in your backline, swap with midfield.

you have spent too much money in the middle, leaving you with few upgrade possibilities. cut back on a premium and spend the money in the backs
I switched Heppell into the midfield and added Jack Grimes to the backline. Traded out O' Keefe and added Goodes with some of the extra money I had.
Now with $64,500 left, should I upgrade any Forwards or leave it and upgrade during the season?

Enright is an interesting selection. He has been a premium for the last few seasons but late last year he was tagged out of games and his average plummeted.

I like Shuey, it remains to be seen if he can keep fit and play 22 games a season. The kid just needs some luck.

Watching DT Talk the other day a midpricer strategy is one that a few people might be looking at. If Shuey can average well over the first half of the season you might be able to trade him to Ablett for only a small amount.

Big question mark on Gray. He isn't injured yet which is a plus but I think it's a matter of when not if when he gets injured.

I'd be wary of Enright this year. once teams started giving him a forward-tag last year his DT scores were terrible, <70 every week for a month IIRC.

who else are you considering in that price range?

I've got Enright at this stage purely because without doubling up on premiums in the one area (Broughton and Duffield), the other options aren't that great. Grimes maybe, but with Adcock already, durability is an issue. I've also got Gibbs in the midfield so I have a permanent DP link with the backs.

It really is a tough balancing act with the byes this year!
