Hi all, I know it's been a little while since trade week but listening to a lot of interviews and trade recap, a lot of people were talking about powerful player agents and having to keep them happy. If I recall correctly, Port said they were grateful for Houston's management to allow them to explore multiple clubs when he was still contracted for a few years. Does anyone have any insight into this? Cheers.

Player agents drive hard to provide the player’s optimal outcome. They apparently attempt to leverage their entire stable against a club that isn’t rolling over and accepting whatever crap offer is put on the table. At the same time, they’re going the same thing to the offering club. End of day, club’s have a duty to look after themselves and agents to independently look after their clients’ individual interests. It’s a game.
And yet Houston ended up at the club he no doubt wanted to go to despite other clubs having better trade capital for Port.
Player agents have a vested interest in getting players to move and renegotiate contracts.
Signing a 6 or 7 year deal is great, but 3 years in if the player manager can renegotiate the deal again (usually with a new club), it means more income for the agent.
Many of these guys are absolute sharks and are in it purely for themselves.

Just like every other trade
So you need to be managing like 20 players to earn what a player does.
So in theory you could just manage like 5 of them and still earn good money.
Seems like a good gig to get into, can't imagine you are that busy.
