Surprisingly low for Curtin!
He's lower than I thought he'd be when i started the list. But picking a top 15 was enjoyably tough.

Curtin's got massive potential. But, ignoring potential, I can't see him having more in game impact than the first 15 named for the first 6 rounds of 2025. I also think you pick your best players every week, and only pick on potential if the kid is about the same quality as the senior player also up for the spot.

After the first 15, he's not replacing Max's defensive abilities down back and doesn't have the AFL fitness needed to take a full time wing role like Cumming or Sholl (and it's not where his weapons are).

I also don't see Curtin playing as the 7th defender this year (particularly with Muz, Woozle and Keane already selected).

I'd still play him every game, because I think he could be a top 15 player by seasons end. But he's not a top 15 impact player in round 1 (which is no knock on a highly tallented young tall).

If your main intention was to be 5-1 at the end of round 6, who would you take out of my top 15 and why? (not having a go, genuinly interested)

Rob without even a second thought. (But I can see why you’ve picked him)
my criterion of picking a side in order for this year, is different to yours, wanting to be 5-1 at the end of the round 7.

Picking ROB so high hurt, but we are where we are.

Despite restricting your criteria, there is still a lot of leeway as to how to go about selecting a top 15. Which is why i restricted it even further.

As far as whose 2024 highlights packages i watched the most over the offseason, it was:
1. Thilthorpe
2. Soligo
3. Rachele
4. Rankine
5. Curtin
6. Draper

Last year I did a free for all, pick a list in whatever order you want.
Most exciting, most important, who you like most etc, but it confused people so thought I’d try and give a simple rule for people to pick by.

1 to 15 is tough.

Get to about 8 and then it's a bit tricky. Based on performance RT probably isn't top 6, but he could very well be with an injury free year. In fact he WILL be.

1 Rankine
2. Dawson
3. RT
4. Soligo
5. Cumming - fully fit
6. FOG
7. Murray
8. Keays
9. ANB
10. Pearling - will rise
11. Maxy
12. Rachelle
13. Worrell
14. Tex
15. Crouch

Go on if you were picking a team or player to not who you didn’t want to leave the club.
Surely everyone has an order of favoritism?

Rehashing last years thread.

This year we’ll only go to 15:
The no rules part confused people last year so let’s make one rule, rank them in the order you’d pick them in our side this year.

1: Rankine
2: Dawson
3: Thilthorpe
4: Soligo
5: Murray
6: Fogarty
7: Max
8: Curtin
9: Rachele
10: Worrell
11: Peatling
12: ANB
13: Keys
14: Hinge
15: Cumming
That’s getting to be a pretty strong 15
Interesting exercise Frogman. My interpretation of the rules are these are the priorities for us to win big - finals or a flag this year. Young guns Draper and Curtin to shoot up over coming yrs. ROB the most difficult to place IMO so have done the manly thing and ignored him for this exercise. Exposed elite talent prioritised.

1 Thilthorpe
2 Rankine
3 Dawson
4 Walker
5 Murray
6 Soligo
7 ANB
8 Rachele
9 Keane
10 Peatling
11 Hinge
12 Max M
13 Fogarty
14 Laird
15 Worrell

Next batch - Milera, Keays, Jones, Curtin, Cumming

Definitely a top 8 calibre squad, quite possibly top 4 with our draw

Based on what they have produced in their careers and their likely contribution this year and for the next few years:

1. Thilthorpe
2. Rankine
3. Dawson
4. Soligo
5. Fogarty
6. Michalanney
7. Rachele
8. N Murray
9. ANB
10. Peatling
11. Cumming
12. Curtin
13. Draper
14. Worrell
15. Keane

9 Rachele
10 Curtin

Max a bit lower than most?
Lower ceiling than the rest, not as damaging as the others?

1. Rankine

15. Curtin

Rate worrell highly as important to structure so have him higher than most and think he was one of the key pillars we couldnt afford to lose last year.

It's a double whammy of taking into account where I rate players currently, alongside how I rate their importance for 2025. This sees players like Soligo and Rachele jump above Dawson because Adelaide desperately needs both to break out into the top echelon of players, and both should have a clear run at it this year with how the team is shuffling (i.e. less Laird/Crouch in the midfield, more Rankine in the midfield). Thilthorpe is also number 1 for this reason, Adelaide desperately needs that dominant key forward that he threatened to be last year.

The three potentially controversial exclusions are Tex (see Thilthorpe, and that Fogarty overtook him last year) and Curtin who I'm anticipating this year will be more of a building into his career campaign then one where I expect him to become a key contributor. That's mainly do to with the expectation that Curtin will be a forward with limited midfield time this year, and well, see the top 3 players on my list (i.e. I'm not expecting there will be any room for Curtin to break out, regardless of his capability). If he was building to be primarily a winger for this year, I'm willing to push him above Murray. ROB is the other one, but a ruckman, and at a replaceable level and I think we'll find a solution that does an alright job of replacing him, should push come to shove. Heck, that might be Curtin.

Draper is the big unknown for me, hence 14th. He could go as high as top 5 depending how we use him in preseason matches.

No Tex! No Crouch! No Laird!

If we’re honest, first picked is ROB but no one wants to say so.

Yeah - I was picking in order - I love Max, I think I only have one defender above him (Worrell).

I actually wanted Keane and Nank in there but they kept missing the cut.

For me our defenders are looking really solid ... but the mids / forwards are where we are going to need to perform if we want to move up the ladder properly. They are soooo much harder to find at the top end of talent pool.

Our back 6

Nank
Murray
Keane
Michalanney
Worrell
Hinge

Is one of the best in the league.

Nicks will shoehorn Laird back there.

17. Max - liked the look of the offensive efforts in the trial, already really strong defensively

This is the biggest surprise.

8th youngest player on our list. Has already played 45 games out of 46 in his first two seasons. Finished 3rd in our best and fairest last year in just his 2nd year.

Became a lot more offensive from 22 to 23 as well. 10 disposals to 14. 170 Metres gained to 243. I50's almost doubled.
Expect another jump from him - particularly with the ball in hand.

14: Jones

I am just surprised he kept Murphy out.

Jones ahead of Cumming is interesting particularly since they signed him to a 6 season deal. It's clear that Jones won't make it as the midfielder we drafted him as, but he just can't get enough of the footy to justify playing him off Half back / Wing. Only once in 92 games has he got the pill 25+ times.
