Popped in to see Fitzroy Stars host Abberfeldie on Saturday and was impressed with the standard, even though Abbers would've won by about 3-4 goals, the stars would be happy with a great hitout against a very good side. Both sides were missing a couple of players each!

Mate I know its practise matches etc. But if Fitzroy stuck with Abbers 21 pt loss their fb says. Then great effort. Abbers are a quality side in the best comp in melb imho.

How did allan murray go?

Amos premier A is a lot stronger than ESS DFL
Jabber your kidding the top side in edfl div 1 would tear a new one for the top ammo a grade sides.
how many ex afl players are going around in the ammos to be a top div 1in side in the edfl you need to spend around the 350 to 400 k mark.
now as you are not allowed to pay in the ammos why would the top ex afl players play for free in the ammos .
for my mind if its side against side not league against league then its the efl ,edfl, ammos

Uneducated post mate. Plenty of ex AFL and VFL players running around in the ammos. Most clubs in the ammos through their old boy networks get jobs for players.
Would you rather $1000 a game or a job paying $80k + a year or your kids tuition payed at a top private school?

Probably not the place to be having this convo..
I'll just say that Ammos clubs aren't the only ones who look after a potential recruit with work.

just a question if you give a 80k job to a player is this not the same as paying players even if it it s a bit back handed

Yeah it technically is but none of it goes on the books. Obviously no one is going to turn down a form of payment, and the clubs are going to do everything they can for the best advantage.

Yep, West look good and I expect them to play finals if they hold up with injuries unlike last year. We showed some good signs as well, we played well for three quarters.

Mernda V Darley at Mernda this week.
What did West beat Mernda by? What makes u think West will play finals after playing a middle of the road div 2 side?

10 goals in the end but we had one bad quarter where we got outscored by five goals.

The fact that West had to use 50+ players last year and still finish only one game out the five is a factor plus they're pretty strong across the board - 19s premiers 2013, reserves premiers 2012 etc.

Assumption wasn't made after the game, just think they can play finals this season 'tis all

I believe West's 2's flag was a little like Heidelbergs in 2013. A load of 1's players playing in the 2's. Guys that certainly wouldnt have played in the reserves had the seniors been playing on the day.

There were actually only three (Logie, Dorbolo and R. Allan) that wouldn't have played if the seniors had also been playing, and they were in and out of the side for most of the year anyway. Heidelberg's reserves would have actually been stronger if the ones had still been in the finals because it would have meant several players who had either played too many senior games or not enough reserves games to qualify would have been able to play in the reserves.
