Training Report
Woke up did a body pump and my shoulders were burning on the way to training. The weight on my shoulders must be nothing compared to JLOs. If this team isn't playing finals then it's all over. They have all the key ingredients.

I won't cover warm ups and drills as I'd rather just discuss the full ground match sim.

Notes: Almost everyone is fit and available.

Walters can't be too far away as he was boxing and I could see him pounding it out for ages this morning.

Narkle warms up and does plenty of intermittent running yet won't join in full match sim. He looks fine but clearly the club are holding him back for a reason.

Darcey, ditto, I can clearly see how hard he has worked this pre season. Corns may need to eat his words.

Jackson and Reidy rucked almost 100% of the time. Both rucked well, Jackson just manages to do a little more around the ground.

Voss leads well and can take a mark. His goal kicking was pretty good. Players such as Young and Bolton hit him up perfectly. He will probably not get a game over Jackson, Amiss and Tracey yet he looks good.

These tall forwards feed off Young and Bolton. Bolton is such a beautiful player. He is too nimble and smart. He's the a chef who serves everything up on a platter for his team mates.

Banners kicking was terrible. He turned it over a few time and missed an easy shot on goal. Kicking the belly of the ball.

The ball use was average at first but picked up as the sim went on.

The player I noticed most was Erasmus. He really stepped up and was creative. He must take Fyfes spot with this opportunity. It's his time to build on his wafl finals last season.

Walker and Wagner look excellent. Both rebound brilliantly. Moose is ready to rock and roll. Chapman and Clark ditto.

Luke Ryan looked sore and thankfully recovered to do some bike riding.

On a final note. It is hard to report on the new draftees as I'm still figuring out who they are. It's harder in person with 36 players running around in a game style that is contested and congested it is definitely a contest driven approach by JLO.
Fantastic insight, cheers Husk :D

Strongly disagree about Johnson being a great forward threat. That's not why he hangs onto the ball for so long.

On SM-G781B using BigFooty.com mobile app
Forward movement handballs are not the same as a forward threat, so not sure we are disagreeing here. Johnson needs to lower his eyes and put his head over the ball and start kicking bullets I50 if he is going to be damaging forward, as opposed to starting forward moving chains via handballs.

I'm fine with Banfield being overtaken, but he only needs to play 3 more before reaching 100.

I've got a funny feeling about his genetics. It would be handy having a future father son/daughter up our sleeve.

He's a good option as a big bodied sub that can play multiple positions, I think he'll get to 100.

Anyone at training got eyes on Luke Ryan after that collision on Monday?
Yep he was pumping laps out at a fair rate-so doubt any ribs were broken!
Went down and had a look at training,no match sim though.
Few unprofessional observations as follows
Serong looks in for a big year-put a bit of size on,looks more athletic and his kicking is mint.
Best I’ve seen Darcy look, participated in all training drills and didn’t appear to be limping or favouring his knee.
Kicking was good and although struggled with the run through sprints at the end-it was a promising session.
Looked much leaner and mobile also no strapping to be seen.
Not training-Pearce,Bolton(bummer),Fyfe and Sonny
Rehab-Aish and JOM-nothing to concerning by the looks
Brandon Walker is a specimen and his kicking matched his Afro.
Drizz looked up and about and very vocal.
Chappie/Sharp have both put on some size and we’re both moving well.
My first look at Sparkle and he’s more solid than I thought, moves and kicks well could be more than just depth.
Cox looks fit but did struggle to get down to a couple ground balls.
Oscar Mac looks to be over his knee problems, moved well.
Hugh Davies-you guessed it!!
Did a couple good things and defended well.
Tracey’s kicking is a thing of beauty and is a real leader on the track.
Amiss looks real solid now and ain’t gonna get pushed around this year.
Was working on goal kicking (with Longmuir) at the end of training and was coming in off the long run(12 or so steps) and looked much more balanced-was roosting 40/50 metres easily.
Voss -strong lad kicking is a bit hit and miss though.
Johno and Raz both looking good-though Johno missed a few targets.
Dogga took a few good grabs and generally kicked well,he was wearing a helmet for one exercise, not sure what that was about??
Bruce seems very popular with the boys and was neat without standing out.
Cooper Simpson just moved and kicks like a gun-very bullish on him this year .
New train on guy is quick but just think he’s too short.
That’s all folks

Today's session

I'll be brief as it's a skills session without match sim.

Most players trained. Players separated into different groups.

Firstly the players are awesome. Very friendly and my daughter took a photo with some of them. They all speak so nicely to the kids who watch on after the session.

Darcy is moving as well as I've seen in years. He looks fit and strong. He may need some match sim practice as most of the other players have been match conditioning. That will come shortly.

Noddy having a full pre season is doing his chances wonders and he looks in terrific condition.

Fyfe has stated his recovery and Walters looks fit and ready to start training again. He was hitting those pads rigorously.

Young was doing a bit of training to the side and looks powerful in the shoulders and legs.

Skills consisted of kicking to one on one's for marking contests and handballing to players in best position. Then run throughs and goal kicking practice. This was a lighter session and done mid week so it's not just bone bruising contest work during match sims. They would need some recovery time from Monday.

Ryan did some gym training as in rowing and some jogging. He probably is taking the cautious approach which is good.

Poor old Banfield. When you aren’t getting much love on the pre season training thread, where nearly every player on the list is talked up as a possible future AA, you know that your stocks are really falling with the freo faithful!
Needs 3 more games to get to 100.
