Nah, i was working as a Developer but all enterprise/business software. I think the game industry is pretty hard to get into. I'm in the right area for it though - been between Baltimore and DC since i moved to the US in '04. Firaxis & Bethesda are both close by. Working on something like Civ would be fun.

Following on from this, I played another 7 seasons and got to 2101, where the game ran into another issue. It turns out all of Brisbane, Footscray, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, Richmond, St Kilda, Sydney and West Coast didn't want to hire a Head Coach, so when we came up against them in the Preseason comp the game didn't know how to deal with it.

Luckily for these clubs though the AFL in this game does handouts too and so they were gifted a head coach by the powers that be. I found a few coaches who didn't have a contract and gave them each one with the necessary clubs. To mitigate the issue in the future, all coaches now have contracts which should theoretically last until 2201. This has successfully allowed me to continue playing (for now).

I'm probably going to have to do a magical reset soon where 2102 is "2011" again to stop these issues popping up. But right now dealing with them as they come is working well enough.

Well you have experience making an actual game that made some kind of money (at least the money I paid for it!), so it's a leg up on someone who's fresh out of uni at least!

Yeah mate as it turns out, having the retail package to drop on the desk at an interview makes a fair impact. Got me in the door where I am now - going on 6 years.
 
Hi mate, I have been playing premiership coach since 2010. I would love to be able to play a new one with updated teams and lists. Hopefully 2019 is the year and if you need help with anything let me know. Happy to pay for the game cheers

Thanks mate, appreciate the support. I've been avoiding setting any expectations on release date, but can say with certainty that there will be a 2019 version.

hey mate, no idea if this is a silly question or not but will the game be available on Mac as well as PC?

Sorry mate, not this time around - at least not natively. You'd be able to run an emulator like Parallels to run it on a virtual pc (maybe a newer emulator out there - I'm not a mac guy).

If we get some traction with the 2019 version I'm hoping to invest that back into mobile ad potentially mac versions. I havent worked with Xamarin so I'd need to either invest time into getting up to speed there, or bring in someone with those skills.

What is the best way in PC2011 to delete the older draft players. It is slowly ruining my career because nearly my entire draft ranking list is 21-23 yr olds and they never really develop. I have tried going thru my draft ranking list just before the draft and manually deleting them from the files but every time they show up again. Is there something I can do to fix this? Also Grenville if already you havent, this probably needs to be fixed in the new version.

Edit: Well now, the game has nuked my save after I attempted to restore a backup after the game died. Is this because I messed with the draft players?

Also have an issue with my own Salary. After paying me for cheap in the year 2060 they're paying me like 31million now and it's getting to the point where i can't hire staff. I tried lowering it in my Staff xml, but that crashes the game, also it's a different figure to that in the game

Maybe the game is predicting the death of the AFL and that all the 18 year olds are more invested in their e-sports careers to be worried about professional football.

Been a slower last month or so with a lot going on personally and traveling a couple of times also. Its a busy time of year. Still spent a few hours here and there and making progress. Theres no firm planned release date - just that it'll be 2019, and still on track for that.
 
Just thought i would throw my two cents in as ive played the game since 2011 and think its amazing and still play it to this day. Couple of nitpicking things that might be just me.

1. When a player is traded to another club and they seem to do well for you and win your best and fairest it reverts them back to winning the award for their previous club. Example, Fyfe traded to Carlton wins our best and fairest and the next soon u go back to the awards and he has won it for Fremantle

2. The trading logic needs a tweak i believe. Don't like seeing a particular player getting traded at the end of each season.

3. Coaches contracts. If you do well i believe you should be getting longer than 1 year deals.

4. Scouting system breaks after a couple of years in to the save.

Other than that its great and im probably just nitpicking and this might only bother me but thought id give it a mention. cheers for all your hard work and efforts. Legend.
