I wouldn't think they would be allowed to be until they are drafted. Or has that happened before?

You'd generally see some seniors during this time too, even if they don't have to be. I imagine the squad in general (maybe not Touk as he seems to be on his honeymoon) will want to make an impression that next year will be different so starting early is a god start.

I feel like training in the pre-season has never been our problem. Hopefully we get our balance right. It did seem like we ran the year out better (our poor year came from not winning away from home, rather than falling off a cliff later in the season), so hopefully club and players are a bit more mature about how they train.

But Lombard might just train unofficially as part of our academy. Not sure if our other graduates trained early before, so you may be right.

I do still have some doubts about our fitness levels. Do we over-train in the off-season as some players interviews suggested? No point to kill yourself in crazy heat.

We did look flat in same games late in the season. Obvious one was Melbourne game but also last quarters against Lions, Essendon and Eagles we looked spent.

Someone who gets it.

Everyone is tricked by the wins into thinking it’s a good idea

We were trash in the second half of the season even before we started playing games in Darwin. We've been in a good position to push for a finals spot many times by the midway point of the season and I think it's really just a mental block that's snowballed for our players. This is our 15th season in the AFL and we still haven't played finals - that's a lot of pressure for the players. Once we finally clinch a spot in the finals then I think we'll see those second half of the season woes go away.

Good to see Big and a few other lads back training already!!

Wil Powell Def/Fwd 2025? :eyes:
Is this an indication that Powell expects to be moved out of the backline? Presumably because of the arrivals of Rioli and Noble.

Depth in multiple positions is always a good thing. Don't mind the idea of Powell playing a more attacking role next year.

Pretty sure I can see a lot of the boys out there like Ainsworth, Kingy, Noah, Rowelly, Wittsy, Jeffrey, Collins, Farrar etc. Nice to see so many of them are keen to train this early.

Powell up the ground is something I want to see. Might be Weller first, but you’d think one of them at least has to move out of the backline.

I'd like to see how Powell goes on a wing

Powell and Clohesy on a wing each is hot. Both cover the ground fantastic, are great kicks, both strong overhead and work back into the backline to intercept. Should absolutely be the plan.
Agreed. Get some elite kicking plus intercept marking up the ground. Swapping out a Fiorini/Holman for Powell is such an upgrade. Could be real exciting.

I wonder what happens with Weller then if it is Powell on the wing? Maybe a bench player for mids/defence. Or maybe he gets pushed out completely.

I still think Bodhi turns into a midfielder eventually. It's a big call but he really does give me Dangerfield vibes the way he tries to run the ball and launch it from stoppages. Would love to see it tried out at some point.
