Is that preseason 4 for Mac? Starting to worry a bit that he will never fill up  He is still a bloody stick. Also if Jed is 195 how tall is Mac then? Still growing? 😂

I don't think he ever needs to bulk up too much, needs to work on core strength and keep his athleticism. That's what makes him different.

IMO, he needs at least to become Chol regarding body. No match in contest, easy to push out.
Yeah core strength will help with that. Ablett is always my best example. Definitely wasn't the biggest or most ripped player going around but his core strength was so incredible he was almost untackleable. Mac just needs a similar thing so he isn't easily beaten, if he is left 1 out with a big gorilla forward our backline has failed anyway. You want him to play effectively as a loose defender, where he can use his awesome speed, leap and marking ability to cut the ball off.

Gold Coast v Sydney, People First Stadium, 8:10pm (7.10pm local)

Big emphasis on physicality, tackling and strength in the contest from Day 1 of pre-season is good to see. No building up to it as we progress through the summer. The list is aerobically fit enough.

Definitely need to be stronger and smarter in tight to stop letting the ball slip out to for easy goals. Hopefully gives them more trust in their teammates to avoid overcommitting and leaving free opposition players everywhere on the outside.

Just need to sprinkle some foot skills in there as well now.

Gold Coast is yet to extend invitations beyond this week, but Southport star Ben Jepson has made an early impression since joining the program in Carrara at the end of last month, after delisted Sun Hewago Oea started on day one of the pre-season.
The 23-year-old Jepson moved to Queensland to join the Sharks after a breakout VFL campaign for Coburg in 2023, moving in with former Carey Grammar schoolmate Noah Anderson – he also played with Matt Rowell at school, where the Suns first did work on him.

Jepson was named at half-back in the VFL team of the year and finished second in Southport's best and fairest after attracting interest from Brisbane ahead of the Mid-Season Rookie Draft, but is being trialled on a wing to add more depth outside following the retirement of Brandon Ellis.

The club do like to turn half backs into wingers (Clohesy for an example)
