Not to be a kent, but i'd hardly call Schlong brilliant in 2024. His debut season was much better.
He kicked 2 goals from 7 games and didn't lay a tackle either of his final 2 games before eventually getting subbed off late vs the Bombers (the game Cripps ruined for everyone by overturning Watermans clutch mark).
I get everyone loves him, he's a solid player and exceeding expectations for a pick 58, but the carry on makes it seem like he's the craftiest player since Boomer Harvey. Bloke is realistically coming from a long way back now he's had an ACL, i'd be well and truly tempering expectations and just hoping he can return safely through the WAFL.
I think he will bring quite a bit of melb defensive structures too, often overlooked that was his most recent experience.Yeah, people keep thinking McQualter is going to make us play 'chaos' ball, when he's never actually indicated that to be the case.
Obviously he'll introduce elements of the style Richmond played but most teams are playing similar styles these days anyway and it needs to be a style that can eventually hold up in finals.
Sex life and allA penetrating kick, not an elite kick.
Plus he’s a shocking set shotArcher Reid tends to fade in and out of games so whilst very talented is much more likely to stay involved in defence as opposed to being a forward.
What's Jake Caton's go? Role/Position/Potential? Take it he is NGA so we get rights to match?I will be there tomorrow was there today.
I asked about the NGA boys today they said Jake Caton went up in there opinion
was very impressive with his kicking and situation awareness in the training drills
So he maybe another to watch next year, as this training is a good learning point
going into his draft year.
Said Koby Evans is now 187cm going through a growth spurt
Agree and I hope we have learnt our lesson with playing Oscar way too early in the ruck and damaging his body.
Was such a stupid idea and made worse because we actually had Tom Hickey on the list to play that role.
Poor decision by all concerned that has had serious consequences for not only Oscars footballing future but also for our list balance.
Hopefully such foolhardy decision making is behind us as the new management team forge their own style.
Surprised we have only released the one game. Most teams have released both games
Yeah that’s what I thought and makes sense to fill the gap between their other two games.Freo prob the other one?
A still growing 204cm teenager playing key forward is inconsistent! I'm shocked!
Later on in that segment, Shuey talks about not doing any stoppage work this side of Christmas as they’ll get into that after the break
Interestingly he also said that they weren’t likely to be a team chasing a 15+ clearance differential each week as that wasn’t part of McQualter’s philosophy. Unsure if that’s a good or bad thing
ShockingHe's been consistent in that he fades in and out of matches since being a part of rep and higher level teams up forward since he was 14/15.
Have a like for the use of the better name McQualter in preference miniYeah, people keep thinking McQualter is going to make us play 'chaos' ball, when he's never actually indicated that to be the case.

Haven’t paid too much attention to the draft but watching Jobe’s highlights it feels like he’d be such a waste if he wasn’t a forward. Seems like such an Eagles type forward with his smarts/running patterns as a lead up forward. Also looks awesome flying for marks too.I'd like to keep Archer Reid forward and get Lecras or similar to teach him goal kicking fundamentals and Kennedy forward craft.
I think Jobe Shanahan ends up the Gov heir apparent.... He's got stickier hands than Dark Sharks, front row of a Dua Lipa concert!
Long term I’d love to see Shanahan at FF and Archer at CHF. If there’s a spot down back in the meantime that gets them out of the Beagles I’m all for it, provided we don’t ask Archer to ruck.Haven’t paid too much attention to the draft but watching Jobe’s highlights it feels like he’d be such a waste if he wasn’t a forward. You’re forgetting Jack Williams who is a few years older than them and is looking like a ripper too.Long term I’d love to see Shanahan at FF and Archer at CHF. If there’s a spot down back in the meantime that gets them out of the Beagles I’m all for it, provided we don’t ask Archer to ruck.
Agreed. I mentioned a few posts earlier that long term I wonder if JWilliams and AReid can develop their craft enough to both play ruck/fwd in the same team which would free up a spot by not having a specialist ruck. You’re forgetting Jack Williams who is a few years older than them and is looking like a ripper too.
