I also wonder what effect Jurrah would have on wonaemirri's scoring.

I will probably take punts on players that have show in the past they can score well (Palmer, Young, Medhurst, Simon Buckley and possibly Ziebell as a forward).

Wona scored pretty well as a rookie forward and it is usual for there to be a reasonable jump in a player's third year especially if he plays some more time in the midfield. As Melb improves I think players like Wona who receive less attention will find it easier to score. 60 is probably his basement I would think with 70 what I would expect.

By no means is he a certainty for my side and it will come down to balance and how he performs in the preseason but he is definately one I will be watching closely and is one I look at for that 20 point increase that I like to have.

I reckon Scully, Trengove, Bleese and Strauss would be in line for midfield time in front of Wonaemirri.

No midfield time for Wonaeamirri.

I have noticed Bailey grooming Jetta into the Davey role this season already. Indicating he wants another pacey midfielder on the ball with Davey. That leaves a big hole for a small crumbing forward in the forward line for Wonaemirri to fill. As you say, Scully, Trengove, Blease, Strauss, Grimes, Mckenzie, etc are all going to be recieving midfield time over Wona.

Wona has been so unlucky with injuries this year. Near the end of pre-season he was in incredible shape, and by all acounts was ready for a ripper season. However injuries hit again and again and again and he never got a game.

Good points but I think he will play some midfield time in teh same way that Grimes will start back but play some midfield time. Scully and Trengove will both spend time in the forward line next year and can swap things around a bit with the likes of Wona and Jetta. Morton is another who you have to think will spend more time as well in teh engine room next year given even that he is more of an outside player. Having a lot of players that can run through the midfield is the modern way and I think Wona is one who can do it as well. U18 he certainly looked like he would have no trouble doing it once he got his endurance up.

On Davey I would not be surprised if they moved him into the backline next year where he could play the quarterback.

You are right Ausyid on Jetta. I had forgotten about him. He was one I wanted to put on my list to watch in the preseason.

I was considering Bate if he got Midfeild time, it doesen't look like he is going to get any.
Ricky Petterd is the one to watch there, not Bate. Consistently has proffessed he wants to play midfield. He can kick a goal or three from midfield as well. He has had a pretty uninterrupted season and his stamina has improved massively. One to watch.

I do like petterd as a fream teamer! Is definately one to watch over the preseason. I guess the main issue tho is his durability! Will be an interesting prospect in 2010

Will have to see who gets midfield time did Petterd play out the season this year?

Pettard could be an option if we see a role change pre-season but jetta i dont think will be a option for me

I think you can still safely consider McVeigh if he seems like he will give you the improvement to make him worthwhile. You should be able to find a playing rookie in round 1 to give you enough points for 1 match.

Watch pre-season form and see if we can fit Ben Reid in our team.

He'll probably be a sub $200k forward but will play back if he gets a game. At VFL level he's been playing a rebounding CHB averaging probably around 23 possesions. Similar to Jarrad Waite. Problem will be getting a game ahead of the Browns and Presti and whether if he would be given the freedom to play such an attacking role.

Another forward turned backman is Macaffer who should be cheapish next year, he may still play forward though, but don't be surprised to see him become our #1 small rebounder, seems to have the ability to find it there. Forward or back he'd be on my watchlist.

Yeah, Reid is an option for next year if he can cement a position in your team. Judging by some Collingwood VFL reports it seems that he has potential to be a decent ball winner from key position. I think he has significant competition though with N.J.Brown and L. Brown. I was surprised to see that N.J.Brown has been getting some decent statistical figures in the VFL (Don't know if that's completely true but from the reports i've seems he seems to be getting a bit of the ball) so i am not sure how truely representative Reid's figures are but from what i have heard/seem, he has been named in the bests or thereabouts quite often so he's an option worth considering.

I know he has been groomed in the back half in the VFL for a while but do you think he could be used up forward since he was originally recruited as a tall forward? I don't know which position out of KPB and KPF i'd prefer him in, but if he is in the team come round 1 he could be an option. But regardless, personally i didn't see quite enough from him at AFL level to justify the selection unless he has a remarkable PS. I think MM will be keen to get games into him though, so I think we could see him a bit at AFL level next year despite his competition with NJB/LB.

Also, from everything i've heard about him at VFL level, Macaffer seems like a star. I doubt he'd be getting midfield time in the AFL but i am quite sure i heard that he was getting time there at VFL level too? Every report i see, seems to have him in the bests or there abouts in the VFL so i'd definitely consider him strongly. I also thought he showed quite a bit at AFL level so thats the most important thing. Definitely one to look out for, I reckon.

What are peoples thoughts on Cale Morton? Started the season really well and showed he had great potential. I think if he has a good preseason he could be a good pickup. It will be his 3rd season which seems to be most players breakout seasons and I assume Melbourne will improve a lot next year so he could be one to watch.
