And given there is no proof he has r*ped anyone. A claim which subsequently was found to be unreliable.

Actually no it wasn't, it just didn't clear an incredibly high bar on 3 consecutive ocassions.
There is a significant degree of evidence to support the assertion that Pell is a child rapist. Proving defamation would require proving a clear falsehood. This is not Elon Musk making a claim out of thin air because a diver upset him.
Look, their is nothing wrong whatsoever with Premiers, Prime Minister etc having an opinion about the law, it is quite another matter for them to voice an opinion about the outcome of a decision handed down by the court as to whether the decision was right or wrong because that would be undermining the justice system, wouldn't it?
Here in South Australia, we had a Labor Government who passed a law basically saying they could proscribe anyone they wanted to but it was found to be unconstitutional by the High Court. The Attorney-General of SA at the time, John Rau, didn't give a commentary as to whether the High Court was wrong or right, he said:
"Rulings such as this obviously present a momentary challenge; but they occur from time to time as part of the normal processes of government,".
"Our commitment to dealing with this scourge is unshaken.
"Our policy direction won't change. Our support for the police won't change.
"Our determination to fight organised crime won't change." (12/11/10 The Advertiser)
What Rau and the Government did later, was to alter the legislation so it did not contravene the Australian Constitution.
What Andrews said was exactly the same as what Rau said and in keeping with the protocols of Premiers and Prime Ministers not passing judgement as to whether a decision is right or wrong - that's not how our system works.

The HC is wrong, they never established a routine.
The evidence of Portelli and Potter was a joke and should have been taken to task at trial.
The prosecution let their completely dodgy testimony off far too lightly and it came back to bite them.
