I'm sorry, wish I could help in some way. My husband had a few patches of it for several years and it just seemed to go away all by itself eventually not long after I met him. I figured that it may have been stress from his first marriage breaking up that caused it because I didn't think it goes away on it's own like that and the doctor suggested it can be caused by stress. He had patches on his elbows and one bad spot in particular on his leg looked like a raw burn so it's amazing it did go away. He just used to use some cream for excema treatment to help at the time. Obviously you would have been to the doctor and tried numerous things so I'm not sure what you can do. I think I remember something on a show like Today Tonight where they talked about a treatment that was having positive effects. Sorry I can't be much help.

I guess you would have already searched the net but you might find some help here http://www.google.com.au/search?q=Psoriasis+treatment&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

My ex boyfriend suffered with this debilitating condition for a couple of years. No amount of creams etc helped and then we saw a different doctor and he put him on some sort of anti depressant thing a bit like prozac. He wasn't depressed but just stressed with work, a few family issues etc. Within 3 months it started to clear up and only had a few sporadic patches every now and then.

It is stress that causes this I am convinced.

See if your doctor will go down this route with you for treatment.

...

Man, I hate that ****. Get small patches every now and again that just come and go.

I refuse to believe it's stress related tho, cos I'm never stressed! :)

Still... I feel your pain dude!

My mom had it for a few years on her elbows and knees. Use of creames over that time has dried the condition up and now looks like a scab (not advised to touch it as infection is highly probable)
Hope you can find a remedy.

My brother's had it for 5 years. He's a very stressful person, little things bug him. He's tried everything, creams, U.V light scans etc. He's got very low self-esteem and is very self conscious. It made him quit footy. It's easy to tell him not to worry about things, but it's doesn't help. :(

-about the light scan thing, sure it made him look very tanned but it was very expensive and didn't really work on him.
I've heard it could be a genetic problem as well - my cousin had it for a while as well.

I went to a specialist on and off for 5 years and used every cream treatment under the sun and it only got worse.
However recently I succesfully got rid of most of mine after going on a diet and using "Linotar gel" that you can get from amcal without a prescription. I think its definitely either diet related and/or stress related. I went on a low carb diet and saw an instant improvement. So I think it was either the weight loss that helped or eating a lot less carbs. ie pasta, bread & potatoes. Previously they made up 80% of my diet. My bet is that the high carb foods was the trigger for me, even though I was told by my dermatologist that it has nothing to do with diet.

That actually sounds very plausible-it could well be that you'd developed some sort of sensitivity to wheat which was acting as a trigger for the Psoriasis.

The thing with these kind of conditions is that they don't happen for no reason, just because the 'expert's don't know the reason it doesn't mean that there isn't one.

Thank you all for the feedback, I began conducting my own study 4 years ago now (after a skin biopsy came back from the lab saying it was EXCEMA...... dumb ****ers) & luckily, my natural scepticism got the better of me.

After all these years, I am also convinced it is a diet &/or stress related condition, I am soon to have a Bio-Dermal skin test to ascertain what what I need to change in my diet & reduce my stress levels.

PSORIOSIS IS ABSOLUTELY AN INTERNAL PROBLEM, FORGET ABOUT CREAMS ETC.............

I agree that breads could be one of the main problems as the bread yeast can cause candida, i'm already dosing up on Acidophilus to counter-act it & will switch to yeast free sough dough.

I will keep everyone updated regulary over the months to let you know how things are going as I do know that tens of millions of people around the world are suffering.

I also am beginning to wonder that another possibility may be that the powers may be know what the solution is but because of the hundreds of millions of dollars feeding a huge industry, BLAH! BLAH! BLAH! ( you get the point ).

For ***** sake, they struggle with the commom cold, WHY????

I am a very fortunate soul not to be motivated by money so long as I can pay my bills & eat well I'm generally happy.

I can build a pretty swish web site & know how to exploit search engines to the max so if I stumble onto something, the whole world will know about it in a heartbeat.

cheers

5 years now.

I'm 38 & it covers most of me (including bone joints).

It affects me psychologically (mentally), sexually, monetarily, spiritualy, physically etc..........

HELP ME PLEASE.

I am crazy to bump this thread from 20 years ago...

I know how you felt....

I have tried many methods from methotrixate tablets to creams and sunlight.

There is one method that works. Its not a cure but it will make it disappear.

Its called consentyx.

look it up ang google it.

Hello, I suffer from psoriasis predominantly on my lower legs. It’s progressively gotten very bad over the last 3 years. I use Enstilar but it’s not effective anymore, and it’s left my skin very thin. And it easily bruises and cuts. I’m very self conscious about it - I wear longer socks when I’m working out, and pants when possible. But wearing pants makes it worse on hot days.

There’s no pattern to flare ups. Some weeks are good and I can wear shorts, some weeks very bad. Alcohol seems to flare it up, but it’s not definite.

It’s spread to my arms but it’s not as chronic and it’s harder to see.

It’s a horrible condition. I sympathise with anyone who’s dealing with it.

Hi There, my downstairs neighbour suffered from terrible Psoriasis and switched to a carnivore diet.

His Psoriasis cleared up remarkably but did have some some bowel issues adjusting to the all meat diet.. it's not for everyone and hard to stick too.

Might be worth a shot.

Have you tried UV therapy?

Need to see hard evidence. There is so much weak anecdotal evidence about what works and what makes it worse out there, but little scientific evidence backing it up. Eat meat, don't eat meat, cut out wheat, go gluten free, go lactose free, cut out alcohol, stress v non-stress, humidity v dry air, cold v hot. There is nothing clear cut. If there was then everyone would be following it.
