I've attached a PDF of the transcript of the show, as it appears that the original media is no longer available. Here's an extract of Police Chaplain Barry May talking about the Claremont Serial Killings.
"There have been many occasions in the ministries of police where I've been approached by members of the public, who've said to me I've had visions and dreams. I have taken them to the police artists and as a result of that I have many pictures of people who are supposedly murders, rapists and so on who in fact I have then passed on to macro task force, because they have an outside interest in these sorts of things."

To "Cast out Demons", one would have to believe that demonic possession is really occurring to people, in the here and now.
Article doesn't say what these demons were supposedly making these people that they possessed do though.

Father Barry said an increasing number of people were seeking his help, partly because of a growing awareness about his service and partly because “the occult is awakening”.

Anglican Archbishop Roger Herft supported the priest’s work yesterday, with the Archbishop claiming he too had performed exorcisms on people and homes in a bid to cast out demons."

In 1987, a Manjimup woman snarled, hissed and bared her teeth as he lightly placed his hands on her and prayed for the demons to leave her body."

It's absurd, some of these people make such outrageous claims and they seem to just get away with it. Still trying to get my head around Barry May using police sketch artists to recreate images of visions and really actually saying "the occult is awakening". I get it he was probably a very nice person but it's such a reckless thing to say imo it can really frighten some people.

Father Barry May wrote some 5 books apparently.
4 of which one might describe as suitable for children.
The other, maybe not so much.

"And she would say 'no I'm not', in her own voice.

"It took hours and hours to deliver her and as soon as I said 'spirit, reveal yourself', she would growl and spit and cross her eyes.

"She threw about 12 of the demons out and she was free."

What is real?
A series of unsolved abductions, and murders in Western Australia prior to hiring a self professed Demon Hunter, as a full time Police Chaplain in 1992.
A Chaplain that police allowed to involve himself with the Macro Task Force.
A clairvoyant who claimed to of worked so closely with Police that she alleges that she was allowed onto crime scenes and was regularly consulted at a coffee shop in a shopping center by her handler, a senior detective.
What is real? I can't imagine any of this being real. What if the Commissioner of Police heard about this at the time?

I'd find it incredible that any Police Department would entertain Demon Hunters and Exorcists let alone one of their own parading themselves in public as such, but there you are, even in New York USA.

Just how intertwined to Police investigations of serious crime is this phenomenon though?

Knowing about the involvement of a chaplain in active investigations of serious crimes is one thing. Condoning it is another. But it's really about the intention of it, inasmuch as whether a Police Force procures a chaplain to be a sink for palming off all the clairvoyant nonsense or a weapon against serious crimes that the Force actually thought might of been committed by Demons, or occultists, due to evidence found at crime scenes? I doubt if the former Police Commissioner would've employed a chaplain to be part of a crime fighting arsenal, but the circumstances of the former chaplain's story of his involvement as described to the media certainly are cause to ponder what was going on.

Reads like a fluff piece and it is.

Only mentions one case and that (possibly) is one the police had already identified the perpetrators (because they arrested people ' a few hours later'

The other was an admitted bust with nobody charged.

Then it says nothing. Fluff imo
