The definition of not for profit from the ATO:Private schools are still not for profit
The definition of not for profit from the ATO:
"Not-for-profit (NFP) organisations are organisations that provide services to the community and do not operate to make a profit for its members (or shareholders, if applicable). A few examples are childcare centres, art centres, neighbourhood associations, medical centres and sports clubs.
All profits must go back into the services the organisation provides and must not be distributed to members, even if the organisation winds up."
Doesn't mean you can't:
- hoard cash
- own $millions in property
- pay big bucks to employees, particularly ones that run the organisation
For example: I picked a private school from Melbourne (not a really exclusive one), looked up their Annual information statement (2023 was the latest) in the financials and documents section on the charity register (have a look in there, pick a school, somehow they are all registered charities), and had a look at their key management employees and total pay.
Make of this what you will:
Number of remunerated key management personnel:10
Total amount paid to key management personnel: $3,868,007
Edit: Had a look at 2022 statement
Number of remunerated key management personnel: 10
Total amount paid to key management personnel: $3,525,097
Nice pay rise...9.7%
its the worst type of rort possible. They are taking needed money away from poor kids and splashing it on luxuries for their own and paying obscene salaries for the pigs that run the places. They are abominations.then they have the ****ing gall to try to justify itNot a bad wage for crying poor all the time
Victoria’s public service executives get paid more than what you quoted and they are unaccountable, don’t make any decisions (that’s done by consultants), and have no qualms over spending, missing budgets and wasting taxpayer money. The definition of not for profit from the ATO:

You are so prejudiced and biased you need to divide everything you say by 75%. You obviously had a torrid time when you attended private school?its the worst type of rort possible. your suggestion that highly paid public servants dont make decision but consutants do shows thats youre either extremely ignorant or just making shit up and believe what you hear from other dimwits.Victoria’s public service executives get paid more than what you quoted and they are unaccountable, don’t make any decisions (that’s done by consultants), and have no qualms over spending, missing budgets and wasting taxpayer money.
So what’s my point? It’s common for executives to be highly paid except that in private schools the execs are accountable to the Board
nah managed to avoid the bullys but learned pretty much FA of valueYou are so prejudiced and biased you need to divide everything you say by 75%. You obviously had a torrid time when you attended private school?

SRL was conceived by consultants with public servants completely shut out. But this is off topic!your suggestion that highly paid public servants dont make decision but consutants do shows thats youre either extremely ignorant or just making shit up and believe what you hear from other dimwits.
putting up a concept is not making a decision. what do they teach you at your alma mater?SRL was conceived by consultants with public servants completely shut out. But this is off topic!
Top bureaucrat, public servants, kept out of loop in massive Melbourne rail project - Government News
The public sector, including the top transport bureaucrat, was marginalised as consultants steered the early development of Melbourne’s SRL.www.governmentnews.com.au
With the money the government (especially in Victoria) pisses away I'm surprised anyone is giving private schools attention.Victoria’s public service executives get paid more than what you quoted and they are unaccountable, don’t make any decisions (that’s done by consultants), and have no qualms over spending, missing budgets and wasting taxpayer money.

The Catholic Church is a religion and therefore gets not-for-profit and charity status. However, it is an extremely wealthy organisation providing schools, hospitals, et cetera, and owning some of the world's most priceless real estate. The definition of not for profit from the ATO:

$100,000 is the average salary for a full-timer these days (I believe the median is considerably lower). How well-off do you need to be to afford a private school these days? I guess it depends on how expensive the school is, and how many kids you have. While it’s fashionable to pot ordinary people earning six figures, its base level if you wanna buy an ordinary house via home loan
