have heard its bigger than that.

Fidler to UQ, Gordon going home, Rhook to Cairns, Bowles to Redcliffe, McGregor back to Darwin, Korewha departed, Westerberg retired and Matheson weighing up options?

Richardson and Manly probably play VFL, McFayden going again with academy as 19 year old. They will be a young side in 2025, but still plenty of talent.

should free up some points and recruitment funds

Can only imagine Fidler with dad connection at Grange must be on a scholarship with UQ

Everything off field staying the same?

Did I hear right. Tom hickey retired after palm beaches final? He said it during his acceptance speech at the grogan

Coorparoo’s first outside player signings are both former Mt Gravatt players in Jonah Licht (former captain) and Jayden Crawley. Am aware however Jonah was a Coops junior.

Yeah it’ll be hard going for both MT G and coorparoo next year I suspect. Both need 8-10 QAFL standard players to come in to be a mid table competitive team and they just aren’t around . It’s not like the other clubs will sit on their hands as well. Going to be tough on them

Also gaining a few handy ones. I don’t think morningside are going backwards.

Lot of local kids heading south again to chance their arm at VFL but also a lot being lured into FIFO of country leagues.
Im hearing that FIFO may be halted to a degree.AFL Vic are aware of its growing stature and are looking at minimizing the number of FIFO players per club and implementing a high points value to them!
I see Noah Cumberland delisted yesterday gee I bet Maroochy will be on the phone, hence more than handy to a list already full of depth and improving!

I would’ve thought for sure Maroochydore would’ve been all over Simpson once he was coming back to SEQ, I get Hinterland was his junior club but he spent a lot of years at Maroochydore, surprised he’s not gone there to be honest.

I think you will find there’s a few issues around that.Simpson was picked as Ruckman in the Sunshine Coast team of the half century, not even selected in Maroochydores team of the half century!
Also once he started doing the FIFO to country Victoria was told he could not train during the week at Maroochy so I’m pretty sure trained at Hinterland!

was originally a SC boy wasn't he? Played juniors up this way (maybe a different surname back then?) and I know was in an U15's regional side so not sure how many games he played at Coops as a junior to qualify as a 1 ptr? Moved to Bris late teens so can't have been many

wasn't the greatest of "divorces" at the time sadly and maybe doesn't want the training required of QAFL footy vs Div 1?

Can only hope on both counts... Noah would be in the best handful of QAFL footballers if he did end up back on the coast. Played some damn good footy for Richmond in a small space of time

Rhook is back in Victoria at Koroit

Other way round Thommo. Normally we sign them and Lions grab them.

Cumberland definitely coming back home to Maroochydore from what I’ve heard

if by 'grab them' you mean ask for them to pretend to list them for a points reduction, then yeah, I guess that happens too!

See Peter Yagmoor has joined the Beenleigh Buffalos as assistant playing coach .. I reckon thats great as he can pass on a lot of experience here

whoever the Lions sign for their VFL squad ;)
Not sure McDonaugh, Horne, Downie, Luvig, Straker etc came via Lions mate. And for the record we had Lloyd committed to playing long before Lions were even thinking of him playing VFL or AfL as he had retired and was moving to a house at Capalaba that he had owned for more than 5-6 years.

Fair bit went into getting recruitment right like most clubs. Just happened the majority of recruits worked and was great result from not playing finals previous few years.

Find it personally a bit disrespectful Thommo that you think that the success was just handed via Lions.Anyone that does recruitment at any level will tell you how many countless and thankless hours go into the gig and then work in getting players here especially from intestate with work, accommodation, transport etc.

Losing RG, Hude, Bulley etc down south next year I would have thought Sherwood have enough on their own plate trying to recruit and compete against a new club like Coorparoo coming in.
