QAFL 2024 season

I wouldn't know mate, luring people from interstate with an $80k cap isn't really possible unless a few boundaries are pushed. It's not something we do, or really try to do.

Rightly or wrongly, feel our role as a QAFL club is to be a nursery for local QLD talented kids and grow the game in Queensland, rather than lure interstate players to fill the side ahead of the locals. Any interstate players at the Pies are here because they were moving already, and they had to pick a club, not because we relocated them.

It's fantastic for Hudey to head south, he is a genuine AFL prospect and with the long list of forwards on the Lions AFL list who likely won't be playing much AFL, he is better off making that decision as he cant get guaranteed a VFL game ahead of a listed player.
$80k is bugger all! Some of these VIC leagues are at a $150k cap! How does QAFL compete with that? It doesn’t… yet! Then the brown paper bags and yellow envelopes get involved!

You can imagine what would happen though if AFLQ increased the salary cap to that

We all got paid in cash back in the day.
They just have to be more creative these days.

Morningside probably got as many if not more kids than most clubs down south who hopefully return home one day.

Not all about money with recruiting. Leveraging off good Club people and sponsors for career opportunities sometimes plays a bigger part than $$$ for playing footy.

It is a lot of work relocating players from all over the place, but if you prepared to do the work you get the results.

Morningside still had low points and probably had over well over half the side local kids or Morningside juniors.

Can only imagine Fidler with dad connection at Grange must be on a scholarship with UQ

Everything off field staying the same?
UQ scholarship will pays his fees and mean he has next to no HECS debt when he finishes degree. I also think they get extra tutoring. A few Morningside boys have done this over the years. It’s too good an offer to pass up

Jarrod Cameron is a great pick up for Sherwood.

Have also seen Nathan Pearce and Nathan Wright have both also signed interstate.
