The timeslot is generally unworkable really, especially once the seniors and potential volunteers have packed up and gone home. At a guess the Matildas game down the road at the same time probably didn't help either
 
Create a comp where the only criteria is overall numbers and not about quality. The whole Womens space needs a rethink as it has grown from one knee jerk reaction to completion structure to another.

Any truth to Redcliffe Womens forfeiting a final? Some serious rethinking required from AFLQ about the embarrassment it is becoming

didn’t have enough qualified players to take the field. AFLQ rules state if you double up then only the senior games count that weekend.

AFLQ sent out a list the week prior saying they had something like 26 qualified only to turn around the day before the game to say wait we were wrong and you only have 12.

Considering the comp lost 2 coast clubs from last year in cooly and Burleigh then Robina not getting a reserves team all season this year you may be on the money with the travel.

That's true but I know for a fact one club was told by the players not to stay in div 1 as we don't have the numbers. Was completely ignored as someone knew better. Didn't work from round 1. So who's fault is it that teams forfeit.

Surely there is a minimum number of registered players needed by a certain date?

Well its the #1 reason why clubs feel away in the mens (Bond / Burleigh) so no surprise if it is the reason in the womens too

Wouldn’t say Caloundra was of the same strength as Noosa / maroochy. But the reason provided by both clubs to leave was travel.
In the case of women’s footy there is even greater disparity bn the good and bad sides so a team copping a flogging each week unlikely to want to travel to surfers from Redcliffe for instance l. For a 445pm game
 
The whole Div 1 comp especially ressies has had issues straight from the start.

Draw comes out and then recalled due to 2 teams pulling out and then a new draw issued. Mind you cooly only appointed a coach a month earlier and Burleigh had been advertising for a Div 2 south women’s coach for a couple of months so how did aflq not know they wouldn’t be in it?

All the teams were aware kedron and Robina were struggling for numbers in preseason yet the league said they were confident both would be ok. Both forfeited after round 3 and another 2 clubs forfeited games during the season.

With likely kedron, Robina and Redcliffe all dropping out of Div1 and rumours around that morningside will move to qwafl where does that leave Div 1 in its current format?
 
Some discussion about QAFLW moving to a 1 side competition drawing from Div 1 sides so having a 32 or so player squad. Dispersing the QAFLW reserves players back into lower levels and increasing numbers there. If you are going to make a requirement of Div 1 footy 2 sides then something has to happen.

I see we losing another competition manager. AFLQ really struggle to keep good staff which effects everyone at club land.

Pure dominance from the pumas yesterday looked a class above the panthers, Panthers kept trying all day but just couldn’t go with them. Should be a cracker of a Grand final this weekend. Coorparoo made a bit of a statement in the qualifying final, will be interesting if the game is more like that or like the 2 previous clashes between the 2 during the year

Certainly felt like that as we got closer to the end of the year, still a very even comp below them but Coorparoo and Springwood definitely felt a class above this year. Find Kedron an interesting choice for the Grand final venue, anyone have any idea what the condition of the ground is like? What the viewing area is like? From memory it had a nice hill around the ground if I’m not mistaken?

Ground has a 12 month old new surface. Depending on what the wear and tear has been like it should be in pretty good Nick. The hill will be magic once loaded with patrons. Parking will be interesting but no doubt they’ve got that worked out.
Should be a good host.
