Clear who aflq wants to take out the flag! Not a great look if the newly christened QAFL team are unsuccessful in the 2 years prior to entering in the division below. Smart business by them.

Dont’t think AFLQ would give a shit if they win or lose. What they see is a club in a prime location, junior’s/men’s/women's sides are bursting at the seams with numbers & a track record in the last 10-15 years of stability and success.

right place, right time? Wait and see I guess

Anyone got any predictions for today? I’ll put mine in again.

Seniors- Mayne by 22.
Quinn BOG followed closely by Ivers.

Reserves- Coorparoo by 60

Will be tight as one would expect in a GF.
Coops to take oput the 2's
But I think the Tigers get it done in the Senior's

Second year in a row that Mayne have upset coops in the 2’s. After getting pumped in the previous qualifying final too. Mayne looked far too good for Coops, although Coops defence tried hard with the amount of ball coming in. As above though some very ill discipline from the kings which a few of their boys are quite well known for. Mayne just far too good though. Less than ideal finish to Div 1 for Coorparoo who have been a strong club in Div 1 for a while now. Good luck to them in QAFL.

Holna and moncur both recieved 1 week suspension's tonight. none of the coop people remained to hear the discussions.
Gee When coops kicked the last 2 goals of the second Qtr and started the third Qtr well. I thought they were going overrun Mayne. but again poor disipline cost them the game. Just dumb. Particularly from a co-captian

Holna does certainly seem to play on a Line which he tends to cross a fair bit. Obviously there is some kind of qualities there that Coorparoo like to make him a co captain, but Ill-Discipline hurt them again today like it did in the qualifying final.

Anyway well deserved for Mayne in their centenary year to win a double flag. They have a very good mix of youth and experience throughout that squad and will be a top contender and a team to beat in Div 1 for quite a while.

Would imagine would be the last game for a few of those Coorparoo guys and a less than ideal way to go out. See one lake has now retired. Would be surprised to see Reid, Suckling, Gavin, Green go around again at QAFL level. Do have some great young talent coming through. Thought Prindable was outstanding for them and has been all year especially for a young 17 year old kid. Barry played well for them for another youngster. Moncur is one that shows glimpses and obviously has the pedigree there as well with who his old man was. Thought Fowler was very good for them too, very handy recruit for them from Redcliffe, just a shame he couldn’t get on the park as much this year but. Going to be an interesting off season for them to see how they go.

I don’t think they care about the qafl, they would know the club isn’t ready for it or will go back to it
Agreed, don’t know why it would be such a big thing for Coorparoo to say they’re in QAFL now and Mayne aren’t, after all Coorparoo lost two grand finals in a row now in both seniors and ressies before going up. Who knows the next time they even get to a granny now because god only knows how hard it will be for them in QAFL especially if they don’t recruit well

Kings gone from the penthouse to the shithouse very abruptly. With there current personnel Cant see them being competitive for a number of years in QAFL bar against Mt Gravatt. Lots of work to do at that club over the summer. Probably need to focus on skill levels rather then lip on the field led by that Number 12 Holna.

Here's another thing Coorparoo aren't doing in 2024.
1. Winning a flag

their 3rds and 4ths might still win something!

Geez they were ordinary on the weekend though, any chance they had was ruined by the shocking selfishness of a few older heads. Poor leadership for sure.

Congratulations to Mayne for capping off their centenary year in huge fashion with both the 2s and seniors winning it. Seniors made the GF back in 2020 and was in the hunt last few years since but finally got there. Hopefully they can keep it up next year and defend it. Ressies now back to back.

Unfortunate for both Coorparoo teams. However good luck to them for bigger and better things in the QAFL. Winning 1 GF out of 3 would hurt but making 3 GFs in a row for both grades is still a huge effort.

Good luck to both teams next year.

Massive victory for Mayne - what a great year to win it. Damn good footy club, fantastic old boy network and just keep turning up.

The season is over and the dust has settled. the last 2 clubs are having their mad Monday's.
So who are going to read the tea leaves and predict what will Div 1. resemble next year.
Coop have moved to the QAFL.
Will Benleigh be able to rebuild in time for 2025.
What are Sandgates and Alex Hills plans for 2025. Both seem to travelling quite well with their seniors and ressies playing the Grannies.
Then Cooly and Burleigh are up and about in the South. Will they be keen to test themselves in a higher Div.
Will be interesting on how long AFLQ take to sort it. Dont know any of the Admin stuff on how they go about communication with the clubs. If there is a nomination process for clubs to decide what Div they play in.
