Moorooka going alone, all signed off and confirmed
Big milestone for the club and we can't wait to get stuck into the season with our 3 sides this year

So there will be no UQ partnership or top ups from them?

Solid effort from a club that was on the brink of folding 12 months ago, 11 players at training to what sounds like well over 60 now!

We have a great partnership with UQ and want to continue that but our numbers have allowed us to go alone even taking into account injuries/unavailability etc so if we ever have a week where we may be just short of filling the 66 spots over 3 teams then UQ will be our first call.

Very big turn around and credit to the guys who stuck fat last year and helped keep the clubs doors open. A very big recruiting drive has been in full force since October and it's still continuing despite the 90 on our books as it stands.

That's what happens when the books are done properly. Well done to the chooks

Great effort by everyone at Roosters to get back to where they are fielding 3 teams this year.

Makes it easier when a few more people get involved and want to help around a club and not all left to one person like it was with Webby.

Take my hat off to all involved.

I think the less said about the last three years the better. After coming back after a few years away I'm blown away by the transformation of the club. We're definitely heading in the right direction and the future looks bright with a great bunch of people.

6 teams is pretty boring, you have to wonder why at this level they couldn't have a 14 team comp with a cooked draw like last year?

Or at least even them out and give the geriatrics a few byes by having 7 in each comp

Tend to agree. Combine both comps. Don't see the need for promotion/relegation in Friday night league anyway. 14 teams a lot better than 6 and 8!!

They tell us we agreed to it. But the question wasnt framed correctly.

Amazing they can change the comp as teams drop out or potentially come in. But when it comes to common sense and making it one comp because it's ridiculous to have 6 teams in the "higher" level, they sit on their hands and say the clubs want it. Last year was a great comp. yes there were some floggings but you get that in every comp in oz. And they rig the draw so the lower teams play twice any ways. Joke decision to leave it as it is

I "agreed" to it when it was proposed, on the understanding that they would only do it if there were 8 teams minimum in a comp. Consistent with my position for the last 3 years on the topic, but because of the staff turnover in there what you think they know about past discussions isn't correct.

I haven't spoken to a single person from Div 5 who wouldn't be happy to be in Div 4.

In fact, as i understand it - there are a handful of Div 5 teams who will be really strong, probably stronger than some Div 4 sides - which shows the danger of trying to predict relative strength of teams at this level.

Is all hope lost? Any chance the clubs can push for it to change? 6 teams is a joke, actually makes it a lot less appealing for players surely

AFLQ probably scared that the Friday night comp would become a premier competition at the expense of some of the Saturday comps.

It is the premier Friday night comp.... hahahaha blokes have committed now to a club surely and Friday night sides will be pretty settled. Why they think two comps is better is a mystery

I dont see why you are all whinging about 6 & 8 team comp, makes a whole lot more sense than having 14 teams in one comp, would be an absolute mess as there would be massacres every week. You need a two tier structure to sort the strong teams from the weaker ones. Of course with that structure you will need a test year (2017) to sort out who's going to be strong and who's weak.

Friday night will become huge I foresee! Good times!

Why would they need a test year with the last few years in the books of the Friday night comps ?? The past few years have shown how much teams can change during the course of a season, let alone year by year. A few injuries and a side can change in ability quite considerably. It already looks like div 5 is gonna have teams that should be in div 4. A couple of decent players, however old, can change a side at this level. Playing against a handful of sides is boring and I understand why players are not happy about it. You certainly don't need a two tier structure at all. One Friday night league makes the most sense, and would aid in the growth of the comp overall.
