Let's say you are a professional bettor betting large amounts daily. The majors will limit you pretty quickly. When they do, what are the options? Is it feasible to just rock up to TAB outlets and place bets? Will they eventually catch on to you or can you remain anonymous if you go to different outlets to place bets? Only negatives I can think of are regularly cashing cheques (wins over 10K) and driving. But where I live it's not an issue driving. I have around 6 outlets within 20km.

Professional bettors usually have used "runners".

Random people who the casinos aren't familiar with, and haven't put limits on. The professional bettors gives the cash and the bet to the the runner and the runner gets a small commission in return.

Can also also use offshore books like Bet In Asia which have access to Pinnacle and other proper bookmakers that allow for big stakes, but they still charge commission on winning bettors like Betfair do, and only really offer head to head, line & O/U markets.

That would depend on what the pro in this situation would be betting into, Sports and/or Racing. If he was betting into sports (and for the sake of it sports that arent high liquidity on betfair, so most things bar tennis and european football leagues) his move would be to find a brokering platform to het his money on. If he was betting into racing his move would be to move his action onto betfair and adjust his betting pattern to going from betting early to late at the death.

The problem with going to the tab in this situation is your now bound to 1 set of prices and eventually (assuming your a winner) the tab will take notice of this and limit the machines

In that situation his best move would be to move his action to offshore providers like Betinasia/Permiumtrading for NFL and MLB

And if he wants to pick off the early openers with the tab for afl/nrl bet with them in person

Can Aussies bet legitimately & how safe is betting offshore in regards to withdrawals etc?

Will they still limit winning punters or is that more an Australian bookie thing?

Cheers

Nothing illegal about a person placing a bet with an offshore book. Technically they are the ones committing an offence. Even though there is around 100 books here now there’s still a lot of money turned over by Aussies at offshores. Pick one of the ones with a decent reputation and there’s not much to worry about.

The main US sports you won’t have any issues with limits. Local stuff retail probably is your best bet, but you won’t get crazy amounts down for long doing that. Even spreading it around a handful of venues it’ll get picked up pretty quick if it’s sharp business.

If you're a professional bettor you aint making big bets daily. You are selectively picking spots, not betting every games or races that comes along in the next event list.

Most TABS will shit themselves if you want to withdraw low to mid 4 figures.
A friend was drunk and slammed 500 into one of the machines on GWS to beat Cats at Geelong at like $7 last year, he had to drive to a second venue as the bar where he laid it didn't have it. The 2nd actual TAB venue they had to get a managers approval for what like $3500!

Do it in multiple slips, say max 100-200 and cash out from as many diff venues as you can and avoid getting paid in cheques over 10k if you are betting that large.

Collecting isn’t an issue as tab lets you click and collect vouchers on your account from agency tickets, gotta take less than $10k at a time to keep it under AUSTRAC (I think that’s what it’s called) limits.

Bigger issue is machines getting tagged when you bet amounts above limits. Each venue has different limits for racing and different sports. 6 venues sounds good bet if your betting AFL a few times a week they run out pretty quick. Plenty of different tricks you can use to get set but it gets harder the more you bet if your winning even on the machines!!

TAB operators are supposed to do a report if it looks like a payout is dodging the 10k limit

Your friend shouldn’t drive drunk

Your friend shouldn’t drive drunk

He laid the bet mid week while we having lunch at the local within walking distance, and drove back on the Sunday then the Monday when the local TAB venue was open, thanks for your assumption on morality and social responsibility.
