Does the #17 guernsey for Port Adelaide absolutely scare the crap outta you Essendon supporters and Kevin Sheedy? Stuart Dew (who wore 17) used to have his biggest games against Essendon. Today, Robbie Gray (who now wears 17) had a massive game.

So, does the #17 guernsey for Port Adelaide scare the crap outta you supporters and Kevin Sheedy?

woopy f'n do to port & the number 17 guernsey - 1 game from a newbie & about 4 or five for Stewy Dew it is not such a big deal more of a coincidence really I think - there have hardly been any close matches between Port & Essendon since 1997 when Port came into the comp - I think only 1 in 2001 when we went down to Port in Adelaide (of course!) by 7 points - I just reckon Port Have had the wood on us since that game & that season as I think we have only beat them once or twice since that game I think it was round 16 or 17 in 2001 - they are our bogey team just like Carlton & the Kangas of late but that trend has to stop eventually it always does eventually & there will be a period of 3 or 4 or 5 years where Essendon will belt the living suitcase out of port by 50 points almost every time for 4 or 5 years - there are these trends in footy - we haven't beaten the Kangaroos since the greatest comeback ever 69 points down 11 minute mark of the 2nd quarter in 2001 - do you known that Hawthorn until early last year when they beat us by 1 point in the wet when Monfries triued to be a hero - that they didn't beat us since 1997 & what about St.Kilda - we hardly lost to them in the 80's I know coz they were really crap & we were really good but we didn't lose to them for about 10 years too until they finally beat us in round 1 1992 - Hirdy's first game - so we will just have to wait til we play Port hopefully next year in Melb with a full squad & it's us who are more desperate - coz lets face it Port lost 3 or 4 in a row - public humiliated by the press in Adealide & by their coach, Tredrea's 200th - who has also been criticised & who always kills us too - so what do you expect really - Essendon except for this year have one of the worst records interstate & especially against Port, so the writing was on the wall - Essendon had 3 narrow wins in a row - so they were due for some bad luck too
