Hi Chief , can mods get access to private message conversations, I have had a couple of chats of a highly personal nature with posters I have a connection with and recently I heard that PMs can be read by mods, is this true?

If so can they only be accessed if the report function is utilized or do other conditions have to be met or is it open slather to all mods or certain mods?
No we can't access PMs, nor can admin unless a report is made (even then, can only see the reported message, I believe) or they are added to the conversation.

Hit refresh when it happens - we are working on it.
It's been happening maybe once a day and I've spent all day + night on here the past two. It's not really noticeable.

also when you get a quick minute I was wondering if you could reply again on support@bigfooty because I'm unsure on the answer.

Edit: don't worry on the last part I didn't realise that there was 2 replies (and that they showed up on the same page on outlook). Cheers Chief.

I've wondered this as well. I'm not paranoid and accept what you say in terms of general access.. I do find it hard to accept that it would not be possible to access data in readable form held on your servers with unlimited access though. If it isn't normal procedure then I respect the integrity of the system.

More a suggestion which probably can't be done but anyway, using the BigFooty mobile app I get a picture above some threads. Presumably it's an image that's been posted in the thread somewhere. It would be good if I could tap that image and have the app take me straight to the post where it was used regardless of whereabouts in the thread it was rather than it taking me to the last unread post.

Yes I think that would be a good feature, but it is in the hands of Tapatalk. I can forward this on to them.

It is definitely possible to read convos, as they are in the database. Two people have access to the database - myself and jim boy. I wouldn't know how to write a database query to get at the info though. The database server is physically in the US.

All cool
I have no problem. It's your server, virtual or otherwise, and data. I just like accuracy that's all. I get It's unlikely you would have the motivation.

It is on the list to encrypt convos though.

We don't have the Upload a File option in Conversations because anything uploaded in a convo is stored in the same place as all the other uploaded images - if you know the URL of an image you can open it.

Lets not pretend there isn't Xenforo addons that allow PM's to be read by mods though please.
I can screen grab our add-ons list to show you that we don't have anything like that installed.

I trust you. Just saying that they are out there. :D

I'm not. I assume if I can unwatch the thing then it disappears from my sight.

Is this the case?
You could hold up a horizontal finger at the right distance between your eye and the screen and it would disappear.
