He will be missed by everyone, a true legend of the Carlton Football Club, a much-respected member of his community, and most importantly of all a great family man.

We should celebrate a long life full of happiness and achievement. Condolences to those closest to him.

I'm shocked and saddened.

After reading this thread, I don't want to mourn Serge, but celebrate a great life. What a player and what a Carlton identity. Thank you for the history and the dynasty you are a part of Serge.

You made your mark and that's all that any of us can hope to do.

Rest easy Champion.

Sad day and unexpected. I thought he was in good health for someone his age. Remember seeing him and Rita sitting watching Jack playing in some of his first reserves games at Princes Park. Really feel for his wife, Rita.
Always seemed like such a genuine down to earth guy, despite the fame of his name involved in those epic grand finals of 1968, 70 and 72.
R.I.P you wonderful man

RIP Serge ... he played in the first Home and Away game of VFL footy I ever saw ... Carlton V. Essendon in late '69 at Windy Hill and as very proud 12 year old boy I even managed to score his autograph that day along with Big Nich, Gags, Crossa and Robbie Walls.

How are our present team could do with a player of his calibre, fortitude, grit, integrity and 'never say die' attitude. And I know one thing for sure, we
wouldn't be giving up too many 5 goals leads, if Serge was donning the 'Famous Old Dark Blue' jumper and organising the troops.!!!

Condolences to the Silvagni family.

The patriarch of a famous family.
A family that has been footy’s answer to the royal family.

Serge will forever be Carlton’s nonno.

A year after the death of their maternal-maternal great-grandfather, my thoughts are to Jack, Ben and to Tom.

The No. 1 is most thought when talking all things Silvagni.

Giacomo, the first of that branch to migrate from Italy to Australia.
Serge, the first in the family with to play in the VFL.
John Benetti, a first cousin of Serge’s and a teammate of his.
Stephen, the first child of Serge to go on to play in the VFL.
Jack, the first Silvagni to debut in the 21st century at league level for Carlton.
Ben, the first person in the family to join his brother in the AFL.

In honour of the clan, let’s all have a nice serving of pasta, pizza or whatever nonno’s finest is.

Arrivederci Sergio Silvagni.
A life that had been well lived and well produced.

1938-2021.
