Hey you can't rush these things. There is a staged process Taylor needs to go through before he gets his debut.

1. Play well for multiple weeks in the SANFL so reporter's start asking Nicks if he is close to selection, now Nicks knows your name.
2. Eventually you will be mentioned by Nicks as being close to selection but still not ready.
3. Gets to be part of the main team during the match practice at training, still not ready though.
4. Finally gets the reward of being named as emergency, obviously not going to come into the main side though if there is an injury.
5. Gets the all important travelling emergency role to be around the main group and get a taste for what it's like with the big boys.
6. Finally you are ready to get your debut. Likely to start as the sub or if lucky enough to start you will then be subbed out.
7. Dropped after 2 weeks for a more experienced player and you go back to step 1.
Looks about right
I wonder if they have this pinned up in the changing rooms ?
But point 1. Play well for multiple years, not weeks

Borlase named on the field means we will see Keane playing a bit more of a loose defender role similar to Worrell I guess.

Also means we'll have another 'out'. My guess is the bench is Crouch, Cook, Keays and Nankervis, with McHenry the sub and Hamill the 'out'. Could also see McHenry as the out, or maybe Cook at a stretch. Keays and Crouch will be safe.

edit: re-thought this - will probably be a defender out.

The bottom 6 players we've chosen to face a bottom 4 team after a loss are straight up trash and it's embarrassing for a developing team
The coaches and board still believe we are a chance and the rebuild is over

Let them develop in the SANFL for another 12 months

Borlase into the 22, so assume Hamill is out.
This is the most perplexing selection of the season. Hamill completely blanketed one of the most dangerous small forwards in the comp (Hill) and has easily his best game at AFL level, now he's dropped for Borlase? Like WTF? Eagles don't exactly have a super tall forwardline either.

I think Cook is going out tbh, trained with the 'B' team at training today. Surely Hamill isn't going out after his best game at AFL level and shutting down the most dangerous small forward for the opposition.

Bench will probably be Crouch, Keays, Nank and Hamill with Cook or McHenry as the sub.

I can't figure out that squad

Surely Borlase isn't coming in for Hamill / Nankervis. Would be the world's tallest and slowest backline.

Borlase named on field but he misses surely to goodness.

Hamill and Nank both played well last week and I am quite confident neither will be outs. The Borlase selection is super confusing, I don't see what we are gaining here over playing either Curtin or Ryan.

What's the point of Strachan as an emergency when ROB is clearly playing anyway? Why is there no reward of even an emergency spot for Dowling, Taylor or Ryan?
Agreed, it's pointless.

ROB would play with a broken leg

And not kick any worse

I think it's a return to the structure pre-Collingwood. The whole year we've played three KPDs with one in more of an interceptor role watching the third most dangerous forward and the other two watching the two biggest goal threats (plus Max on the small). For example against Brisbane it was Butts on Hipwood and Keane on Daniher. Last week with Worrell out we added Hamill because Collingwood didn't really have tall forwards other than Cox. This week it's back to the old structure with the third tall replacing Worrell, just delayed by a week.
