Raines

I think it might be important to look at some of the Melbourne players this afternoon for the raines trade. The ball will go in the demons back half quite a lot and there is a quite a lot of choice around that 150-200k mark

I had Raines in my team but speak of the devil, I have the exact player who's going to replace him in my Backline reserves, Alex Rance. I guess I'll swap Raines for Petrenko seeing as he's on a roll.

Kyle Cheny a chance?
Only played 1 game but is looking good on 81 halfway through the 4th...
Also looking at Pears and Hurley, they should get some nice game time with the Bombers.

I really want to keep Raines though!

Gilbert is a good trade for Raines if you have some extra money IMO.
Wouldnt go anywhere near Gilbert as he is highly unlikely to keep those sorts of scores up this year.Watched the Nth game today and i reckon i have found some suitable options in Cheney and Pettard who are highly likely to play most of the year and could end up great cash cows

im also looking at these two for raines replacement. Both showed a bit in the game, and with melb rebuilding there is every chance cheney will keep playing. Pettard has always been around a bout. Dont think they will be squeezed out of the team too easy, and the coach would be wanted to develope the next gen of stars for melb. Will watch both closely this week with interest.

I also have Hill starting, so hopefully he keeps his spot so i avoid a 0

Yeah it's interesting.

Have Raines and hill, backline is in slight turmoil.
Possibility of suban or hill getting dropped, cannot afford to play with donuts this early on.
Cheney and petterd look like possible options, but again very early to tell, will take an ounce of luck trading this early. You must be certain that the trade will pay off.
Personally i believe raines will struggle after a month lay-off then give it 2 weeks to get fit and back in the side. So potentially a six week injury. A trade to petterd would be alright. But a potential hill to cheney, raines to J-mac could be achieved. Who knows, will have to wait and see what the squads are. Frustrating having to worry about this already.
Players i liked i should have got.
Marty Clarke, Gilbee, J-Mac, Lockeyer, harding where all in my side at one stage or another....so i guess the same old story of playing around with my team to much, really hurt.

I had Cheney and Petrenko as benchers in Rd 1, and Hill isnt in my sqaud to worry about......Ill keep Raines on the pine for a few weeks now that both benchers looked ok. Adequete cover, prob start Cheney this week, and re-assess after next week.

i got Hill as 7th with Petrenko and broughton on bench. So i really need Hill to keep his spot and should have one of the benchies cover for raines. Not sure how long Petrenko will keep his spot in the team or how long it will take for broughton to debut tho.

Raines will be out 6 weeks min. He will need to regain some fitness so there is time to make a profit from a sideways trade and always go back to raines.

If i can make it through this weekend without a donut i'll leave it be for another week.

I'm considering downgrading Raines to Hurley. I've got a bad feeling this Raines injury will linger longer than 3-4 weeks.

It looks like Hurley is the only available under 150k player that has a cemented spot. If he can average around 50-60, he gives me valuable cover as I've got Hill playing, plus Petrenko and Broughton as benchies.

Anyone else looking this way?

Yep, same issue as me. I think Petrenko will be in long enough to save our skin for the immediate future. He should be a good cash cow too.

I'm hoping Broughton is a chance to debut this week. He could easily replace someone like Head who coughed up some nasty clangers. I really don't want to have to trade this early if he doesn't play though.

options for raines

  • in regards to the gilbert debate, with raph clarke out he should continue to score, well at least 50+, but personally i still am not gonna get him.
  • i think hurley is also an option because i cant really see petterd or frawley or anyone being a keeper so you gonna have to upgrade them again and hurley played awesome and should keep his spot like zac dawson and managed to get a solid 62 that wasnt just like 10 tackles or a bunch of uncontested marks so should go up more than others and you get some cash for it. (more of an option if you trading this week as you dono if petterd and co. are gonna score 60+s much)
  • petterd i think is risky as, yes he got 93, but he's playing in forward line in melbourne and therefore can get 20-30 one week. but until r5 against adelaide he should still do alright.
  • frawley i think is better than petterd because he gets the cheap marks down back where the ball will be more. plays lots of game time. 17dis 5marks 3tckles i think he can get every week for 68
  • didnt see brisbane game (at the mighty sainters game!) but patful seems similar to frawley and should get around same points as him each week maybe safer in a better team or less safe as spot is up for grabs i dono need some help with him
  • scott thompson i really think you needa wait another week but he looked promising and laidley in paper today said wont be left wondering anymore - regarding him and hansen
  • garland could be the best pick but really just need to give most of these players another week.
  • andrejs everitt looked really fit and apparently had great pre season so he could be good
  • josh head has good kick to hball ratio and is another option but i simply cannot get another freo player they are just horrendous
  • geary is up there but i think there are better options
  • and for those of you like me who dont have houlihan you could do a full upgrade to him
i think i am going to have to wait another week unless suban and hill get dropped. i was trying to do a top 4 here but i simply cant. its a matter of opinion and this is where a successful dream team is made and lost.

basically have 3 options

  • you can go for the hurley downgrade to make a lot of money and probably get a 40-60 each week or
  • you can go for the low risk 55-70 players such as frawley and patful
  • you can go for slightly higher risk 35-85 players such as petterd, everitt
let the debates continue for the next 5 days:thumbsu::confused::eek::eek::(

Yeah I'm think about it....really, really don't want to use a trade but gut feeling tells me Raines will be out for min 6-7 weeks.

I'll leave it be for this week then reassess after next Monday when we have better indication of who will play / score etc

... I'm thinking about making a Raines trade now... simply because I'm highly unsure whether Hill or Suban will play this week. It's all one big mystery. Though, what's even more mysterious for my team is that I have Raines 'supposed' replacement, Alex Rance. Now I need to figure out if he's sure to play or not. If he is, he's going straight on the field! Richmond battling Geelong at Skilled Stadium... Hoho, the ball's gonna be in the Tiges backline a stack.

But again, I'm not sure if it's safe to keep both Hill and Suban especially if I'm not trading Raines for someone like Hurley, need moar confirmation!
