Sheedy mentions it during his latest interview on BomberTV, He was meant to play tonight in a intra-club match but did his hammy last week.

It is nothing serious , he had some tightness in his right hammy last week and has been limited to running. They thought he may be right to commence full training today but he wasnt quite ready. He has plenty of time so no need to ruch it.

Good luck to him, it will be a great story if he does get back, but is he actually good enough anymore? I'm not asking it in a nasty way so don't jump down my throat.

By the way, does Rama have to be promoted into the main squad (to replace a long term injury) like other rookies? or do the dons get an extra spot (effectively)?

The former. He is a rookie list player and subject to the same conditions as the other rookie list players.

And this is the point - he might not get a go in the seniors this year at all as (touch wood) Essendon's injury situation is such that we don't have a place for him even if he is ready to go.

At full fitness no doubt, but even if everything goes smoothly from now on he won't be near the fitness level he needs to play in the midfield until he gets a preseason under his belt.

Always rated him as the best young player from the bombers that played in 2000.

Tom not in running

THE AFL has rejected a request by Geelong for Tom Lonergan to act as its VFL runner.

Plan rejected: The AFL has knocked back Geelong's request for Tom Lonergan to act as a runner in the VFL.
Getting Lonergan back on the field as a runner was seen by the Cats as the crucial next step in his courageous comeback. The young defender was forced to have a kidney removed after a sickening collision against Melbourne in Round 21 last year.
He has recently returned to full training with the senior squad and is hoping to play again by June.
It is believed VFL officials were receptive to the idea, but were overruled by the AFL.
Geelong football operations manager Neil Balme confirmed last night the league had stuck by its rules.
"We understand their position, we know the background to it, that players can't act as runners normally, but we believe these are special circumstances," Balme said.
"Seeing what Tom has been through, the difficulties he has faced and the difficulties he is going to face coming back to AFL footy, which is clearly what he wants to do, this is one step from his point of view where we get him on the ground and let him get a bit more accustomed to it."
The Cats were hoping for some leniency, given it was the VFL and there seemed to be very little downside in making an exception to the rule in Lonergan's case.
"Part of Tommy's program is running and we think it is a good way of getting him involved and taking another step," Balme said.
"But they're saying rules are rules."
The AFL gave special permission for Essendon to retain Adam Ramanauskas as a mature-age rookie last year because of his cancer treatment.
Lonergan was placed on the Cats' rookie list at the end of last season after deciding he wanted to continue his AFL career despite his shocking injuries.
The 22-year-old lost 17kg following emergency surgery and has only recently regained flexibility and strength in his body.
He is soon expected to trial a guard to protect his kidney.
The biggest hurdle facing Lonergan, who was playing only his third AFL game when injured, is the psychological problems he faces, given he was hurt as he courageously backed into a pack as he attempted to mark.
Getting him out on the ground and around the action, even if it was in a runner's shirt, was seen by Cats medical staff as crucial for ensuring he is in the right state of mind to play.
Geelong's VFL team is scheduled to play its first game of the season against Sandringham on Saturday.

Given the leverage afforded to Rama and by extension, the Bombers, this seems a little wrong given the severity of Lonergan's situation late last year.
But hey....rules are rules after all.
