They have separated
They have not applied for divorce
BIG BIG DIFFERENCE
Just because the "official" stance of the JW's is that you shouldn't divorce unless there's adultery, that doesn't mean they can't for other reasons. They're not going to get kicked out for divorcing. But their religious leaders will probably try to talk them out of it. At the end of the day it's still their decision.
Then i dare say these religious folk, are not people like Alex Rance - who just walked away from his highly successful ******* career to concentrate on god. If you want to quit your entire career to follow the journey of god - you by christ might want to be sure you are following the total BASICS of that religion. If you have a muslim friend eating bacon, i dare say your friend is a shitty muslim. Not how religion works, especially to ultra-religious folk like Rance. And yes, Rance is Ultra-religious. If you are quiting your career to focus on it, i dare say religion holds a very special bond in your life, or a very unhealthy emphasis in your life.
The story is off. There is no doubt about it
The timing was off.
The way Rance announced it was "off"
The way the club announced it was 'off'.
The weird news of his separtaion coming out a week later was a bit 'off'.
The way Higgo's girlfriend went irate on facebook about all this "stuff" that, 99% of the public had NFI to what she was even referencing, was off.
(suggest there might be a bit of an internal 'pressure cooker' happening within the players inner-circle)
The weird way his teammates finally got around to wishing their best mate 'good luck' for his retirement from 2 weeks ago, was 'off'. Why did it take 2 weeks? whose idea was that? It was definitely a group think idea - as everyone followed the instruction to 'not' make a comment on social networks.
i think Darren Collison rejected 12 odd million dollars this nba season to focus on christian works
apparently he is keen to play again, maybe Rance will have the same come back from retirement thoughts? he is still on the list, of course...
No it's not OFF, me thinks you want the bullshit rumour to be true or you read social media too heavily and believe everything you read. Then i dare say these religious folk, are not people like Alex Rance - who just walked away from his highly successful ******* career to concentrate on god. In every sense this entire situation has been on the nose. Its ******* obvious. Im 40. Ive seen 100's of sports stars retire. This one, to me, is 'off', compared to all those others i have ever seen, happen.
Do you see the secret message i am trying to get across here? No matter, who you love and who you barrack for - this story is smothered in undoubtedly, stinky 'off-ness'.
i didn't read it as definitively saying made up and her reference to slander was more to do with the gutter language and personal attacks i thought. would love some one from the club to categorically say there is absolutely not an atom of truth in any of the accusations in order to put it to bed once and for all. just sick of the continued conjecture that's all.
anyhoo, we move on here and don't read the other stuff.
and her reference to slander was more to do with the gutter language and personal attacks i thought.
And that's without Chris Scott opening his trap.I think all of this stuff is actually going to help us next year. 2017 we were powered by belief and that it was our time. 2018 we went to hard early and the fire in the belly wasn't there and the prelim embarrassment powered us in 2019. I wasn't quite sure what was going to motivate the club in 2020 but now I know.. Oppo numpties and afl media gutter trash attacking the club culture which will just serve to galvanise the club even further. Thanks idiots
Even though she literally said it was made up?
"there is absolutely no right to abuse, stalk us and make up rumoured stories"
She said "Absolutely disgusting that it has gotten to the point where I have needed to respond to this slander and defamation"
A defamatory statement is a false statement of fact that exposes a person to hatred, ridicule, or contempt.
So she has twice said it`s either false or made up, I don`t know how she could be any more clear that the story isn`t true.
How many senior members of any religion actually agree on the basics of said religion? Zero. This is why every single religious order has a series of sects. Then sub-sects under that. THAT is how religion works.
I’d also mention that undoubtedly Rance retired to focus in part on his religion. And family. But it’s also known he has been planning his life after footy for a long long time. Ergo, I doubt that he retired solely for religious purposes.
How else were Rance and the club supposed to announce it. Rance told the coaches and the playing group. The club then release a press release and an interview with Richo.
Only thing that they didn’t do is release the actual announcement to the playing group.
Nothing ‘off’ with that.
Apparently have been separated for longer. But no one spruiks loud and proud ‘guess what, my wife and are separated!’
Silly to suggest that Rance should of said that he and his wife are separated publically which is what you seem to be suggesting.
This actually angers me. Seriously it does. Some nitwit made the suggestion on social media that Rance had a relationship with Higgo’s 20 year old partner. Then she was cyber bullied on mass by idiots. Bullying in any form is WRONG.
Your insulation that it had nothing to do with anything and she was just in a ‘pressure cooker’ is flat wrong.
Again, why do players have to wish good luck publicly on social media? I’m sure as a playing group as close as it is, it would been more appropriate to do it face to face or via phone call or text.
It was also the day before they broke for Xmas holidays; and we have seen zero media availability of any player because of that sole reason.
Then why did it take two weeks? After all the crap from those like Grant Thomas and lemmings putting 2+2 together and getting every other number bar 4 who thought it was a bit weird that no one had publicly said anything (again time of year and why do they have to do it publicly) and all the rumours and insinuating. I’ve no doubt that there was a collective decision to do it not because they felt they had to put of necessity to put all that stuff to bed.
Lastly, good for you. You’ve seen so many retirements. So have we all. One thing I’ve learned is that none of them are the same. In how they’re handled or for what reasons. We’ve seen footballers (NFL) walk away from a $20m contract to go back to University to study... maths. We’ve seen those retire by a quick post on social media and slip away. We’ve seen retirements where players have let there clubs handle it. Rance can retire in any way shape and manner he so wishes; as both a legend of the club and the game. It is simple folly to use how he retired and what circumstances to insinuate anything improper of ‘off’.
Rance simply may have just wanted it to be a low key affair without much fanfare. To me that has as much chance of being the reason as retiring because he did something improper with a teammates partner (which if it had would be the biggest story of the offseason. The fact that NO major journalist has published anything remotely close to this is probably a bigger hint than anything).
I’ll finish up by saying that I don’t know for sure that Rance has done something improper. If he has then he has. But I see NOT ONE IOTA of evidence that leads to any proof of it; or anything being ‘off’. Nothing that cannot be explained by simple logic and the actual facts of the matter.
that's why he says...You, go fourth and multiply...I come First.God’s a lucky guy coming first so often.
Better go have a lookI am not long for the Rance main board thread methinks.
Better go have a look

Your a dill.I am not sure how much all this is fake news. There is definitely something 'off' about it all.
Teammates taking 2weeks to spread the love?
Also, its worth noting that JW's rules for divorce are extremely black and white - you can only divorce if adultery has happened.
Obviously worth noting that they have only 'separated' for the time being - but for a divorce to happen, you need to be separated for 12 months.
Under what circumstances will Jehovah's Witnesses condone divorce?
Answer (1 of 7): As Helge Kåre Fauskanger mentions in his answer, adultery is the only ground for divorce or separation in the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses. However, there is one thing he forgot to mention, and which I would like to discuss in my answer. While Jehovah’s Witnesses believe sexu...www.quora.com
As much as everyone wants it to be fake news - there is a story there that is newsworthy. Rance is a big sporting celeb in Australia, as well as a big religious personality. IT goes without saying that his retirement and divorce are, by default, newsworthy.
Evidence? I await the biblical quote LoL.Bet you didnt realise this, but the say "Happy wife, happy life" was actually made by God himself. If she aint happy and leaves ya, then god aint happy either.
If Rance's playing commitments were the main issue I find it surprising that the separation was announced after the retirement, surely his retirement would have solved the issue. In his interview with Richo, he tells an anecdote. His wife is at a club function. Another player says to her - "Alex must be heaps of fun to be around". Georgia says "Whadya mean? His always asleep."
A happily married and successful man saying his retiring to focus on his spiritual growth is unprecedented in my world. Never happened before.
A recently separated, yet successful, man regretting the energy he put into everything that wasn't his marriage - I could attach a dozen real life names to that story. Common as dirt.

I owned a Mitsubishi mirage never ever broke down best and most reliable car I ever ownedThis might be my favourite typo on BF
The whole thing might be 'off', but that doesn't mean we should go around assuming (or even speculating) that either Alex or Georgia have cheated on each other. Even if they have, that's none of our business. Just leave it alone. He's gone, for now at least, so we'd might as well move on.
You can ask the elders for a scriptural divorce if there is extreme abuse, willful non support or if you feel that your partner is going to spiritually endanger you (essentially being an apostate or getting you to stray away from God).yes you will get kicked out
the JW are a very serious church, who take their faith very seriously. there is a strong distinction between studying the faith and being a member of the church purely because the JW's view their church as a closed club - not something anyone who mouths the right words gets to join
I know someone in the Salvation Army who was thrown out for getting engaged to a catholic (and she was hardcore, did the recruit drunks in bars bit for eg)
I know someone in a baptist church who was thrown out when he moved into an apartment with his girlfriend
and the JW's ive met are some of the nicest people ive ever met, but are more hardcore than both these examples
god comes first, everything else is a distant second
