I’m not a GP, astra Zeneca ha some risk of blood clotting, I got it and the way it was explained was that if you have other issues like a low red blood count or something it may affect you.
Short answer they all do the same thing, just weigh up the risk “if any”
yeah it looks like if I want to get the vax soon that is my only option at the moment

I was planning on holding out a little longer to see if a new super improved vaccine came out but that seems unlikely in the short/medium term plus my wife just got her first shot so it makes sense if we both just get it

The wife got the Pfizer vaccine through her work which seems to be everyones preference but you can't get any new bookings for it

Do you have any medical problems in your family? If no then whichever one you can get ASAP.
I don't have any that I know about

My old girl has quite a few around a life time of smoking but she has never been healthy either. Old man is pretty fit for a bloke in his 60's

What sort of medical problems can cause issues?

Heart or lung conditions. Blood pressure, you know just the general stuff.

What Frosty said. If you genuinely have no issues I can't see the issue with AZ, obviously there is always risk and it is your own choice which one you get (Not going to judge anyone who actually gets one ;) ). I got AZ had a fever and slept poorly 30hr after my shot, bit of a headache then I was fine. The classic post flu shot symptoms tbh

Seems like it just knocks it out of you for a day or two. I wonder what will happen when I get it, do I have no side effects because of my young and brilliant immune system or is it worse for kids? Intrigued for sure.

I get less sick the older I get tbh. As a kid I'd get the flu every year, as an adult I've been badly sick about once in the last 5 years.

I'm usually very good so that's why I think I'll be crook as after the vaccine

My post-AZ symptoms were the worst I've felt for a couple of years but were gone within a day. Big fever and aches all over.
Worth it though.

So any strong opinions on whether the pfizer or astrazeneca is the best option?

Or to wait for the moderna?
The only consideration I have had is which gets me fully vaccinated faster.

If I didn’t already have my Pfizer booking I would have been happy to get AZ.

Don’t shop around, do the maths based on that basis and do whichever one gets you done faster.

(Am not a doctor)

Ideally I would like one that vaccinets me permanently and doesn't require boosters every ****ing 6 months

I did read somewhere that the AZ vaccine lasts and protects you fore longer. But I read a lot of shit and I don't know what to believe and what not too

The relative risk of either is like debating whether to back melbourne in for the next 99 or 100 flags.

If you're concerned, you should go see your GP. Definately don't take health advice from BigFooty... habits like that will do you far more harm than any vaccine available

That is the data coming out, but the likely reality is if/when a new variant takes off you’ll need a booster anyway regardless of what you choose.

There will be a Delta booster for Pfizer next year. AZ don’t know yet.

Me too.

yeah that kind of turns me off AZ

I get that vaccination and it doesn't even cover me for the Deta variant

AZ is holding up better against Delta than 2 shots of Pfizer though.

Either way they both do a bang up job of preventing you going to hospital.

Few months ago I asked for health advice in this thread and the advice was go to a doctor.

I agree I shouldn’t have taken the advice.

Forget GP’s, just fn take a jab. Whatever happens it’s probably better than COVID.

This. The other day some guy on the street was selling half price covid vaccines, decided I should be as safe as possible. Had the jab, felt really good for a while and now I'm immune. However I really want to find that vaccine dealer again...

I had GPs waffle on trying to talk me out of it. Heard stories of them straight refusing to give jabs in the CBD too. Can understand some concern but they're more concerned about being liable than they are about your health.

My GP thanked me for getting AZ and asked me to encourage others in my network to do likewise. I forgot the number, but he explained the chances of getting a blod clot (let alone a fatal one) were less likely than the possibility of dying during childbirth for a woman.

This makes sense, as the immune system builds up an arsenal of memory cells every time you get sick with a new virus. Which is why you tend not to get sick with the same virus twice. So you may be coming into contact with all those same flu viruses you had when you were a kid but your body recognises them and kills them quickly, which is also how vaccines work.

Just get one of them soon, you have to wait longer between AZ shots. Long queues now they opened Pfizer up to the young folk too.

If I stay within a 15km radium of my house the earliest I can get it in is late September

It would appear that AZ is selling theirs at cost and the other two aren’t, so a lot of the negative press around AZ has come from that.

whichever one you can get tomorrow is the best answer
