Quite incorrect.

Judd & Armfield have Kennedy covered every which way.

Sorry Kramer1 but you've actually reinforced the theory that the team receiving the LESSER number of players benefits more than the team receiving MORE players as compensation:

Judd + Armfield > Kennedy + Masten + Notte

Sorry :)

Regardless of the example given, I don't think it's true. The more you trade away picks and players the more you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to fill up the last spots on your list. That means you end up trying to make champions out of try-hards because there is no other option. It's just that trades rarely pan-out fairly because of circumstances and point scoring.

You would have to look at the depth of your list and see if it could handle the strain.

Trades are always waited favourably toward the 'player' rather than the club. I'd like to see a day when a 'name' player came out of contract and displayed a desire to leave, instead of there being a mad scramble to sign him, all the other clubs simply crossed their arms and said, "nope, we can't afford it!".

Surely you jest.

If other players were involved in the Judd trade I'm pretty certain I would have heard of them...

Off-topic but on our recruitment of Yarran and for all the crap he copped here in his first year.

Where do we think he currently sits if that draft was to be redone?
I only have NicNat and Hurley in front of him right now, so we must have done O.K.

What do the people that thought we made an error think now? Just interested.

Addendum:
I also did a little exercise the other day where I listed only the top 30 picks from 2005 - 2008
Interestingly, we were the only team that hadn't picked up an out and out loss. Don't believe me? Try it out.
Sack Hughes.

People that thought we made an error were and still are idiots... Yaz was always going to be a gun

Yarran > Rich :thumbsu:

Maybe not idiots, just very quick to jump the gun.

No offence to Rich because he is a good player but that "Yarran > Rich", almost looks silly looking forward.
I know that premierships aren't built on flash alone, but am I glad we had a shot at caviar instead on meat & potatoes. :thumbsu:

I think Rich has gone backwards tbh.

I refuse to answer this question completely until after Saturday. However, for the moment lets just say Hurley and Watts and leave it at that.

I'd sniff around at Sam Gilbert and see what the asking price is.

He's had a rough year and looks primed for a change, from the outside it almost looks like he wants one. Same height as Waite, a few years younger.

The guy that almost single-handedly destroyed St Kilda's playing group? REALLY??

I think Gilbert is shot at the Saints and should go to GWS or GC. I think he's a QLDer isn't he?

He'll find his confidence again and be a solid-to-good AFL player for years to come.

Don't think he's the answer for us, though. We need either genuinely big bodies, or great footskills - neither things that Sam Gilbert brings.

On the plus side, within a few years Matt Watson should bring both, and how!

He's probably the last player i'd want and that's without even considering his heavily overrated on field perfomance. Continually turns it over.
The targets he hits are wild floaters that luckily go in the right direction.

I'm not saying he's second best player from the 08 draft at the moment, but i'd probably only take him behind Hurley.

Yeah, I may be biased but I think he has shown more than Hartlett (injuries), Hill (fallen away IMO, but that could be partly due to how crap Freo was this year) Rich (solid mid but nothing special).

I think the 4 stand out players to date have been, in order, NitNat (freak), Hurley (KPP are gold), Watts (shown enough to suggest he will be great) and Yarran (his move to the backline has been HUGE). This obviously doesn't include Rockliff (god he has been good) and Garlett (would have been in the AA suqad if he was able to keep up his early season form). God I have just realised that Shuey and Hannebery were in the draft too. Talk about a STRONG draft for both depth and top-end talent !!!!!!!
