A mate of mine who loves the NBA has been staying with us the last few days, and he's been watching basketball pretty much non-stop. China must be aware of this because my Twitter algorithim has also suddenly had an influx of NBA-related content.

Between the TV and social media commentary, I have to ask... is there a sport more completely obsessed with its past? And defined by its most accomplished players? The amount of times I've heard the names Jordan, Johnson, Kareem, Bryant, Iverson etc invoked is insane. And the discussion about 'top five players'/'the GOAT' seems to be never-ending. It's really, really weird. All sports commentators and fans reference their greats from time to time, but with the NBA it seems to be constant, to the point it's really annoying. Gives off the vibe that everyone involved in basketball cares less about the basketball and more about being able to talk about the basketball.

100% true. They're obsessed with the past & it's the players & media who covered those players in that era. E.g. Jordan era players & media will talk about that era being the best, then it's the 90s, 00s, 10s. They aren't even saying it's the best from their era but ALL eras. It's repetitive, annoying and I don't think most fans care about it.

It's just a selfish attitude in the NBA which comes with player power & one player being the difference between a championship calibre team & a mediocre team. They have difficulty in praising without being self indulging. I don't know of a major sport where one player can influence the team & organisation as much as the NBA.

Finally won the Sabre State Championships on Friday after competing in them pretty much half my life.

Only two more weeks until national championships and counting down the days until the season is over.

  • Strained adductor/ groin
  • Pulled calf muscle
  • Tendonitis in my Achilles
  • High ankle sprain
  • Some rather large bruises

Body is absolutely wrecked after this season, I actually can't imagine the type of pain both physically and mentally our players go through.

Bloody well done, Bonz! I know from your posts over the years how much your worked your arse off and I'm so happy for you mate.

One of my great pleasures in life for many Xmas and Easter holidays is playing golf at Corowa , this Xmas is in danger as the Murray has gone over the levy banks and flooded 18 holes . Too early to know the extent of the damage . These clubs on the Murray like many others have been doing it tough .

The flooding has been pretty bad in the North of the State the past month or so. I nearly had my home in Shepparton flood and all the sporting fields and golf courses went under water. My Dad's local course has been unplayable for nearly 6 months due to the amount of rain and now the floods.

Honestly not sure what happens at nationals.

I was struggling mentally after Oceanics (which was a great result for me), so to be honest am still just physically and mentally worn out a little :)

Think I am going to treat it a little less seriously and have some fun.

I finally broke into the top 20 of Australia in the rankings (18th overall, 14th highest Aussie) and I know it means my results will probably crash a little bit I need a bit of a break from it all.

Don't be surprised if relaxing into it, and enjoying the hell out of it, does a magic trick!

You're already the fittest you've ever been (despite the injuries you are carrying), your performing well (you just won the state title), and increased your standings (14th!!!), so definitely go out there and enjoy the hell out of it! You'll either crash or fly, but I've seen a fair few (in other sports) who's performance has exceeded expectations when they have just relaxed and enjoyed it.

Your sport, your body, and your mind... No matter how you go from here, you're a clear winner (both on the podium and PB)!

but I'll still be interested to hear how you went...

Watching stuff fly up into space is boring and yet worth it.

Do you remember watching Neil Armstrong?
One of the rare times my family owned a TV. Doubtless we had to use pliers to change the channels or maybe, that it didn’t change channels, is why us kids had to watch endless hours of seemingly slo-mo footage of the lunar landing.
Looking back… I’m not sure we appreciated the magnitude of the event 🤪

Have asked everyone I know and no one knows what I'm talking about so thought I'd try on here...

Have any WA folk on here seen that **** off big house on the river in Mosman Park? It's about 100m to the right of the fishing spot in the Coombe and it's built into the cliff (as in the windows and doors seem to literally be in the cliff face.) Genuinely looks like a small town there's that many rooms and walls and it seems to cover about 7 levels, from the top of the hill right down to the water's edge. It's the most fascinating property I've seen on my many travels up and down the Swan river, but I can't quite figure it out. It simply looks far too big to be a single property owned by a single owner?

Anyone know anything about this joint?

Here's the birds eye view from Google Maps (didn't have my phone with me in the boat so couldn't take a snap of it from the front view)

Which House are you talking about C88?

The fact you thought you were looking at separate properties says it all Ticky!

Everything in the red circle is part of the same property, though it's hard to tell from the birds eye view. The long driveway with patterns on it leads down to that building in the bottom centre. But that building is actually just the top level of some other three storey building with terraces that are connected to the two buildings on that level closest to the river, including where the pool is. What you can't see from that angle is that each cliff face/retaining wall that connects the various levels of this property have doors and windows built into them meaning that every one of those levels, and therefore all the buildings on those levels, HAVE to be connected.

My only guess is that some squillionaire just purchased about 15 blocks of land and built themselves and their family their own compound into the cliff face.

Still on this one guys. I did a Google search and found that apparently I wasn't the only one taken by this property, others had taken photos of it from the perspective I saw it.

To put into perspective how huge it is, all those houses around it are mansions that have probably gone for about $5-6mill. And the white house immediately next to it on the left sold for $8mill.
