1. Jared Grant
If his talent could be extracted it would huge for the team/ i always thought he could be a defensive creative back ala ken hinckley
2. Clay Smith
Modern day archetype perhaps one of a number who could be a legend of this club [I believe he is that good]
3. Mitch Wallis
has the capacity to go past libba, has had to fight a little harder for his spot, new coach just the tonic
4. Jordan Roughead
must play forward or ruck or both, would be interesting mix forward for the dogs vice captain.
5. Fletcher Roberts
must hold down a spot in the backline and is ready to shine, ahead of Talia i think, backline is a problem area for the dogs.
6. Josh Prudden
being a devout atheist i am naturally skeptical but it seems deities are all the go at the moment.
7. Koby Stevens
nearing his prime i think a little undervalued, would not be surprised to see a breakout season.
8. Robert Murphy
captain /leader defence will be under the pump, other defenders must put it into his hands as often as they can
9. Jackson Macrae
has the ability to really influence games. Looks a leader. Can deliver a ball and accumulate possessions. His best is yet to come
10. Marcus Bontempelli
a leader, a winner and a star. Can he avoid the second year blues?

The list is random and the players are not rated. It was hard enough to pick a top 10 let alone ranking them.

I think the most important players on our list are the guys under 24 that will be in the next premiership window , improvement consistency and showing leadership will be the most vital steps this year

You mean blokes like Jong and Redpath?

Can do it at vfl level at afl level he gets monstered and looks like an absolute ******

I'm on the fence. Based on last year this is valid but the biggest issue has always been agility and he seems to have slimmed enough and worked hard enough that it may not be the enourmous liability it has been at afl level. He's been working on his tank as well which will never be a strength (the fact he plays like the hulk is his strength) but again, if mitigated means he might make it. Theres a 50:50 chance he has a breakout season or he gets delisted end of year. That's about 40 percent better than same time last year in my opinion. Deserves a shot with an open mind and I'd still rather see him than Liam jones take the field as a 2nd or 3rd toward. At least he seems to have to mental fortitude to not give up that I never saw in Jones.

I hope he proves me wrong but I can't see it , only way he will get a kick is if he plays with out an opponent as the others go to boyd stringer crameri Bonts etc he is meant to be a mean fighter from what I have heard maybe he just becomes boyd stinger or Bonts bodyguard ? Haha

Hmm top ten most important is simply our top ten best players, and given that they are our best, at the very least they have to perform on par to last year if improvement cannot be made

I would prefer to look at it as, top 10 most important to improve in 2015, because if the top ten improve, but the rest stay as is.... we are treading water and have gone no where. With that in mind...

1 )Talia/Roberts - What is there to say, we are going to have a similar year to last, Having Talia or Roberts (both would be ideal) step up and BE AFL GRADE, is absolutely priceless for our defense, we need this like air.

2)Dahlhaus - He has to return to the forward line and be that excitement machine. He was solid last year, not knocking him, but with such a young team, older teams feed on experience, young teams feed on adrenalin, belief, crowd excitement, he brings that in spades when on song, we need it big time.

3)Boyd - I know i know, pressure and all that, but he knows he has to make a show of it, not for money, but for himself, his team mates and the crowd, 2 goals a game is a very good return for the first year, get himself on the scoreboard each game, gives the fans a shout, his team mates a confident target, keeps the opposition from thinking they can let their No.1 run with String or Cramers.

4)Jong - He stood up at the end of last year in the VFL final series, he doesn't have to be a superstar, but if he can become a solid performer in the A grade it would be beneficial on so many levels, from crowds, media will make a big deal of his heritiage, which is fine, it keeps us relavent in a good way, another pace man, big body, hard nut, another possible problem for the opposition to worry about, with Cooney and Griff gone Libba is going to needs all the mates he can get.

5)Smith - We need this wrecking ball back!!! A special kind of bullet in our belt that we haven't been able to fire at the enemy for far too long.

6)Campbell/Cordy - Because it is time for one of them, i don't care which, Minnow should not continue to be the only man seriously considered the Bulldog ruckman from this point on.

7)Stevens - needs to step up and be consistant and in the thick of it, too many times he vanishes , and to many games where he just collects the bare minimum touches and impact. He is capable of much more, so no excuses.

8)Biggs - If Biggsy can step in to be 22 it would be priceless. He has the talent, he is the right age to merge with the existing group.

9)Roughie - If he is over his shoulder, then he needs to stamp his foot as a general back there.

10)Bonti - The kid is a dead set gun, he needs to continue with being who he is, we need it, can't afford for him to have the 2nd year blues, but then again, only mortals have those, so shouldn't be a problem.

If we have Boyd, Stringer, Redpath in our forwardline and Bonti drops into the hole regularly then he may well have no opponent.... Regardless - think he can muscle his way past the third back or if he gets second then stringer gets third = kicks a shizelload of goals. Works for me. I think there's still a role for enforcers on the field and I'd quite like one in the Danny southern mould again :)

Redpath just looks like a one trick pony , what has he shown at training ? Thanks for the update

At this stage we only have the preseason training to gauge improvement and who knows if that will translate to games, but Redpath has looked a different player this preseason to me. He is moving so well and he's taking marks. He was used as relief ruck too and moved like a mid. I don't expect him to be Tony Lockett but I think if he stays sound he will give a contest, provide a lot of physicality, pinch hit in the ruck and take a few grabs. That's not bad, we had no one his size doing that last year.

But we won't know until the whips are cracking.

How is nobody mentioning Matty Boyd in this thread?

For all his flaws he is our only midfielder that is over 22!

He has built a career around consistency which is what we are going to need in our midfield more than anything else.

Would be top 3 for importance with Minno & Libba in my opinion.

1. Libba
2. Bonts
3. Stringer
4. Dalhaus
5. Macrae
6. Rougie/Roberts/Talia (don’t care who but 1 or 2 need to hold key back posts, not sold its Roughie’s best spot though)
7. Murphy
8. Boyd
9. Campbell
10. Jong

1. Michael Talia if he can hold down CHB we become better faster
2. Stringer if he becomes a 50 goal forward again we move up the ladder
3. Roughead will be our rock and build our backline around him
4. Minson if he has a massive all Australian year we climb
5. Hrovat just think he will come on fast this year and he doesn't turn over the ball
6. Boyd Tom kicks 2 a game that's 44 and that would be a great year
7.Libba needs to be all Australian next year
8. McCrae just improves another 10% his elite and again doesn't turn it over
9. Jong mark my words this guy will be the suprise packet he is so hard at it and just what we need with a young group
10. Bonti again like McCrae just a 10% improvement would take the guy into elite company

Yeah that's right mate preseason and game time are totally different things , would love redpath to prove me wrong and turn into a gun just haven't seen it yet

1 Dale Morris: he can play tall or Small, allows roughead to play back or forward and takes the heat of roberts and Talia.
2 Bob Murphy: He is our captain, he is our glue that keeps this side together on and off the field.
3 Jordan Roughead: play him back, forward or in the ruck we could do with 2 rougheads :)
4 Tom Boyd: we shouldn't expect much from tom, but what he does is take the best back leaving Crameri and Stringer taking the lesser backs, he also brings in the like of dahl, hunter honeychurch hrovat ect
5 Jack Macrae: With Griffen gone and Libba getting the attention, jack will need to pick up the slack, the kid is all Class and after 35 games he is on target to have a better disposal Ave than all of the greats in their first 50 games.
6 Tom Liberatore: he's our best player, simple as that.
7 Jake Stringer: If he can take off where he left last season it will ease the pressure on Boyd, also having stints in the middle will be great for the side.
8 Will Minson: can still be the best Ruckman in the comp, needs help, but is important at getting the pill in our hands first.
9 Stewart Crameri: like Stinger he takes pressure off Boyd and can run through the middle at times.
10 Michael Talia/ Fletcher Roberts one if not both need to step up and fast, Dale Morris isn't going to be around forever.
