Well yeah.

There’s also a reasonable chance they all do.
All three making it is very much an outside chance. Of the 45 players taken at picks 19-21 between 2000 and 2014 (too early to make an assessment on more recent years), only 15 made it to 100 games, with only a couple more looking anywhere close to doing so. Talent - and club commitment - drops off fast in the draft.

A question to Carlton fans..if Stocker does not play a game this year and the betting guide for both Carlton and Adelaide holds true for the season, was it worth trading out the 2019 pick which ends up being a top 4 pick for a crows 20-19 1st round pick which is between 15 and 20 after NGA and father son + Stocker who ended up not playing and adding to the team this year. Reading the phantom draft guides, they are showing some real top end mids in this years draft that you guys would have been in a position to get if you had not made the trade. I only make this comment as it seems Stocker may have a bit of work to do on his fitness to meet AFL levels this year and as such he might be more for the future.

Yes.

We didn’t recruit Stocker just for what he may or may not give us this year.

A really stupid question as you know what our answer would be.

Where is Ely at currently , He was a favourite on the Richmond board prior to the draft and would have been a good fit in our midfiels (very happy with RCD selection)

He'll play ressies in the early season, probably a fair way away from the senior team but there's no problem with that.

This is just about the first year in a decade that we don't have to rush our draftees into the senior team so he'll get time to improve without any pressure to perform.

Hasn't done much yet but I can see in his eyes that's he's ready to explode at any moment

It's an interesting one and certainly will hold some interest over the next couple of season.

If Carlton took their future 1st to the trade table during trade week, they would have asked a heck of a lot more than Stoker and a mid/late 1st Rounder.

I can only imagine SOS was of the opinion that Carlton were about to have a significant rise up the ladder. They would also hope Adelaide don't return to finals (or get an easy draw). The bottom line is that Carlton need to triple their wins to get out of the bottom 4, and I suspect that's the only way this trade is going to look at least reasonable in the future. But that's not what Silvagni was dealing with. He was dealing with the hand in front of him at the time.

It's not a bad thing.

The trade means Silvagni has backed in the list he's built to vastly improve this year, which I'm sure Blues fans would be extremely pleased about. Sure, it was a risk (and risk of some egg-on-face), but the List Managers have made a statement that they are going to turn over every stone to get the club back on the path to Premierships. It's bold, inventive and sends a really strong message.

I just hope the Carlton fans don't call for SOS's head if it all goes pear shaped (which it very well could). They backed Silvagni - the Board gave Silvagni the job and let him have the power to make a Captian's Call during live trade.

And, if it all fizzes out - at least we had some good viewing on trade day. The rest was an boring as bat-sh*t.

A question to crow fans - what if 2018 wasnt an aberration but a reflection of where your team actually is?

Think you are severely overrating this year's draftees, or at the very least many of the phantom drafters

As for Stocker, you don't draft players for the now, whatever they produce early is a bonus

Judge a mid after 2-3 years, a tall after 4-5

It shouldn't matter if Stocker doesn't play a game, as long as the mids are doing their job and are fit.
I think it's going to be hard for Stocker to bump himself ahead of the likes of Cripps, Setterfield, Dow, Walsh, Petrevski-Seton, Fisher and Kennedy when he's fit again.

The question that will inevitably come into play this year though, should he not get games and given the CFC openly announced him as being the sixth best player in this draft will be"Why not?" and that would be fair enough, as we'll historically see most and if not, the top ten players being afforded games in their opening season. i.e. All top ten players in '17 played AFL football in their first year.

There are many reasons the CFC wanted to do this deal and all will make sense soon enough.
